He a youngster, East and West Oakland have a gang rival since the Early/Mid 80s(After the Feds infiltrated the Panthers) during the early stages of Crack with Felix Mitchell (The Mob) and Mickey Moore were fighting for Territory. Which transitioned to the village and Acorn projects. East Oakland have sets/Neighborhoods people rep. West Oakland in North Oakland have been heavily gentrified over the years. A lord of original West Oakland people have moved out or displaced. There is a huge homeless encampment in that area and downtown. You may find more militant people in the West, I think that’s because of there is still a late generation of the Panthers. East Oakland is like the “wild Wild West” its also larger than The West & North. That Area haven’t been gentrified yet. I’m from the East, Oakland is full of rich history and culture. We have the Largest Port in America and corporate businesses. Oakland have been major influence in Music, politics & government, activism.

Tens of thousands of laborers came from around the country, especially poor whites and blacks from the Deep South: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and Texas, as well as Missouri and Tennessee. Many Migrants of Oakland original migrated from Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, and Alabama. In 1940 many blacks had to compete for jobs and opportunities with racist white who migrated from Jim Crow South and carried their racial attitudes and beliefs towards blacks after world war 2. The racial harmony in Oakland had quickly disappeared and diminished. Later in the 1960s resistance groups such as black panther party formed to protect blacks from the brutality of from racist armed forces. people of color were impacted by the 1940/50s federal housing redlining policy excluded communities of color from the wealth building opportunity of homeownership. Their neighborhoods were abandoned to urban decay after White flight to the suburbs.
