1 more awesome feature of Box Stretching is that if you hit the tab key after selecting the stretching node a dialog will pop up that will allow you to enter in an exact dimension.

question, is there a way to enable snapping while streching? i've been trying to use this tool on a window. i made the wall opening wider, and then about to stretch the window to fit the wider opening. but no matter how i point the cursor to the edge of the new opening, the scale is not snapping there. one way i can see this is just to type the scale factor, but i don't really want to mess it up especially when the factor becomes non-terminating decimal (1.666667) and it will not become exact. any help?
@mrskye084 жыл бұрын
nevermind i found the solution. :) it is because i am working inside a component, and trying to snap it in a point that is OUTSIDE the component. what i did is made a line inside the component and it snapped!!
@Williscald3 жыл бұрын
@@mrskye08 Can you elaborate on "made a line inside the component"?
@mrskye083 жыл бұрын
@@Williscald tbh i can no longer recall 😅 but i think what happened is that the object i was trying to stretch was a component and it doesn't snap to any point/line outside the component. so what i did was went inside the component (double click the component to go inside it, or right click the component and select edit component) and draw the line while inside the component (the line is where i want the object to snap when stretching. it could also be a point but i find drawing lines easier than drawing a point). then i probably selected everything except the line, then used the tool to stretch the selected items and snap it to the line. then i deleted the line afterwards because it was just a marker. i hope this helps 😁

thank you very much. But it doesn't work well with a complex pvc window that I made from real profiles. The solution in this case is to select the edges and faces of the left or right jamb and move them with the usual "move" tool. You have to remember to display the hidden geometry, otherwise deformations will occur. (I discovered this while testing after your video) It seems to me that this trick is not explained in the videos available on KZbin

Box stretching is actually the same as Dynamic Component or?
@Thesketchupessentials6 жыл бұрын
Not really - it works for any kind of object. Dynamic components can have similar properties in the sense that they can be set to widen without changing widths of door frames or something like that (as an example), but this is much faster, more customizable, and not buggy like dynamic components can be
@w.binder-freecadchannel6 жыл бұрын
@@Thesketchupessentials Yes, I mean, it's better faster than Dynamic Component, which you have to program first. ;- )
