Thanks, everyone for the love this video has received! Great to see that my undergraduate theory work has been helpful to others. By request of Adam Evans, I thought I'd upload the script I wrote to guide me through the lecture. It is very rough and was written just for myself, but maybe it'll be helpful to those who want to dive a little deeper into the materials. Cheers! docs.google.com/document/d/1d_5Z_Nc5q-xfsro5r4ghnCgc56-UB3fc91WiITRdylQ/edit?usp=sharing

You have supplied me with more information and understanding on this subject in 15 minutes than my 3 hour literary theory class. Thank you for sharing

Wow, this was amazing. Thank you for such a wonderfully articulated and very informative lecture on Jameson! This is perfect for my literary theory course, where we are currently studying Jameson and Marx. We have been reading Jameson's work on cognitive mapping and ideological analysis, and your video has been extremely helpful! Your conclusion was perfect. Everything makes much more sense now. Thank you so much!! :)

Thank you so much! I'm in high school looking to apply the Jamesonian analysis in a comparative essay. I watched a few lectures and read the original text as well but you've helped me see how to practically apply it to an actual text.

In my opinion, because 1984 was published in 1949, considering the history of the Soviet Union, it was not an anti-soviet or anti-Stalin novel. Just like Chaplain’s Dictator (1940), the personified evil was either Hitler or Mussolini.

Hey I am currently writing my BA Thesis and was researching Jameson on my own as my supervisor is not very knowledable on Jameson. Is there any singular particular text / essay / work in which Jameson elaborates on this in detail? Or is it spread over multiple works of his? Thank you in advance

I'd suggest the first chapter of The Political Unconscious. It deserves a very careful reading.

Is there any way to get a transcript of this? Great video, by the way!
@christopherdriscoll30633 жыл бұрын
Yeah, sure! The transcript is unedited and rough but if you’re interested I could share it.

@@christopherdriscoll3063 I'm also interested in the transcript. it's a great video but it was kinda difficult to hear at times due to the audio quality.

The creation of a cultural text or artificial is itself an ideological act because authors seek resolution for social and political problems in their lives through depths. These problems are an absent cause, not contextual that governs what the text is capable of representing. It is the subtext of the text.
@drivelikej99622 жыл бұрын
Christopher, your description of Jameson’s approach is fantastic, but the method itself leads to rather insipid, uninspired readings. That’s hardly your fault, but it is a problem.

Nobody cares about your whinging anymore, Peterson. Not since Zizek made an ass out of you and you got hooked on benzos.
