Thanks a lot my dear for Thais wonderful job. I'm speaking from Southern Mozambique, Inhambane province. On the 70s/80s we totally depended on these songs on cerimonies like weddings, parties, etc. But please, if you could sendo Kawere boys band-Jane Atieno No2

Zechariah, thank you for listening. Great to know about weddings and parties in 70s/80/s dependent on Benga. Curious why Mozambique's music wasn't making an impact...? I visited Inhambane some years ago when working in Tanzania, and it was by road from Maputo through Chokwe (just before bad flood), and finally to Inhambane. Beautiful country. I was working on a film about the Madgermanes that I still need to complete... And I don't have Kawere Boys - Jane Atieno No2 but will look for it.

Thank you very much Mr Byern. I'm very very happy to be interacting with such an important figure. Well, there were very few Mozambican musicians by that time and furthermore, the music they played had no such a quality to produce any impact or to dance. While Kenyan benga was so strong that it was listened to and danced in the communities almost all Over Mozambique. We didn't get the vinyls directely from Kenya. We got the songs from South Africa where most of these songs were recorded and most of people from here were south african mine workers and they bought many, many of these songs and brought them back home. Kawere boys band- Jane Atieno No2 that I'm looking for was labeled FFP although it may have been recorded elsewhere and be given a different label. I'm really grateful to know that you passed through Inhambane, I hope One day you come back to see it in details. Sorry for my poor English, you must know that we use Portuguese here. I hope you got the Essential of my message.
