The original I thought was better. The AI only improved the low end and made the stereo image narrow. As far as dynamics were concerned I thought yours turned out better ! You professionals usually go for impressing other professionals when the only thing that matters is the person buying or listening to your songs. the professional is always wanting to improve the song when the listener only wants to dance and jam !

I like the original master more, especially in the louder section. This may be due to the reduced dynamic range and the more "pink noisy" spectral balance. What both master luck is a slight bell shaped notch in the 130-160 hz range, at least with my monitor setup and my listening expierience at this time. The song however is very good. I really like it. Thanks for this video, I'm psyched about the "AI" (why is everything AI this year? GPT-4 shows first signs of true AI.. but well, marketing I guess) Mastering service from @whiteseastudio!

Gonna double-check with different monitoring, but I’m pretty sure I prefer yours. I’m not gonna go on a torch-and-pitchfork rant against AI, I’m sure it’ll be great for a lot of things, but I just don’t want all music to sound like all other music, ya know.?. This is the first I'm hearing about it--the result is impressive for sure. I definitely hear what you're talking about when you say the track sounds more "real" in the ai's master. I agree that your master sounded good in its own right, but the difference between the two in an A>B comparison is readily apparent. The ai's master seems to have seperated the distinct components of the audio, giving each its own space to shine. The effect is like, subtle... but also obvious at the same time. Kinda hard to put into words. Here I thought that was something to accomplish in the mixing stage 😕 Something else I noticed - if you look close at the waveforms next to each other in the project window, your master looks how I would expect a master _should_ look i.e. the levels are for the most part maximized top and bottom. Somehow though, the ai's master seems a little louder--but this wouldn't be apparent by simply comparing the two visually in the DAW. Its waveform appears very much more tame than yours above it. I find that very interesting, actually..

Wow. Venus Theory talked about an open source AI mastering tool this week and now Wytse announces an online AI mastering service. It doesn't seem like a great time to be an entry level mastering engineer- all the entry-level / budget clients can do it themselves for free and get solid (maybe not peak human mastering, but unquestionably solid!) results. As the guy from Two Minute Papers says, "What a time to be alive!"

I know *JUST* what is wrong here. The A.I can improve the balance of the mix but CANNOT do rule nr ONE - which is: WHAT is EMOTIONALLY the correct thing to do for the sake of the message of the song. You know that old: VIBE IS KING rule. Sorry A.I.s OR MORE congratulations humans!

Wow, this is gonna be a game-changer. I've dabbled with "sort-of" AI plugins like Ozone and Nectar, but this is a whole other level. The AI mix sounds chunkier to me, more 3-dimensional. Thanks for the update, Lewin! I've since moved on to Logic, but your Garageband videos are what got me started with music production!

I prefer to use AI as a tool.......It definitely has it's place in the feature of mastering. I use it a reference to beat. That's the difference. Ask AI to beat it self.....see how far you get with that. I still strongly advocate for the organic beating heart but I don't, by any means, dismiss the the feature of mastering and AI. Analog and digital have to interface with each other for us to get the streaming/playback capabilities we have now. Therefore, in contrast, we will have to interface with AI. Let's go!🥊

This feels like a test. The hyperbole is off the scale here. That really isn't a phenomenal difference. I prefer your mix, it has more crunch, more energy. The AI version sounds like a preset was set to Pop or Hifi. It's weaker and thinner. Back to work, Mastering Engineers, we need you more now than ever! Remember kids, when you average out intelligence, you end up with Donald Trump and Boris Johnson! A real pair of bell curves.
