3:10 Mobile support for compute shaders varies a lot from device to device, based on the hardware, so it's not impossible, but you'd have to create fallbacks for everything if you're going to support a wide range of devices. It's almost the same on PC - not everyone actually has a modern GPU. A lot of Steam users are running really old laptops with integrated GPUs without full modern features. You also have to give thought to what kinds of systems the VFX will interact with - basic surface collision or decals (physics), character / skinned-mesh animation, networking, and a lot of other CPU-based systems will just make it more complex and maybe less performant unless you are careful. There are a ton of cool Unity eBooks though, so good shout-out! Even if this particular one isn't useful for your project, there are a bunch of others.

heh it's funny because I don't feel I'm as productive as I would like to be, there's always so much more stuff I want to do! My biggest tip is simply "work from a list", if I don't have a to-do list then I feel lost and can't organize myself, but if I have a to-do list then it helps to just pick a task and get to work. The first thing I do every single day when I wake up is write my to-do list for that day, then I have a more medium term calendar and tons of ideas in text files for the future.

The example you weren't sure about deals with 'texIndex,' which refers to the value of various attributes (size, color, scale, etc.) based on its location. Location here doesn't mean position, so much as which data container holds it. So changing properties on a per-particle basis.

Light theme equals staring at a globe like moths
@CodeMonkeyUnity3 күн бұрын
For me dark theme equals headaches sorry
@fourscoreand98843 күн бұрын
@@CodeMonkeyUnity I do not understand that. Light theme is as if we are staring at the sun to some extent. And we are just not evolved for that. I would suggest trying a larger font and/ or perhaps a theme with some muted tones. Why anybody would want to stare into a bright white light mystifies me. No TV show ever had a bright white background behind news readers or talk show presenters or whatever. For a reason.
@fourscoreand98843 күн бұрын
P.S. I just did a YT search for "closing credits" and they are consistent: light/ white text on dark/ black background. Why? Because it would be insane to blaze a bright white light in the audience's face. Not conducive to anything but agitation.
