Very good idea , it's very similar to the B8 M8 that has made me a master baiter 🤣. All jokes aside it's a very good and very cheap alternative, well done 👍

I make mine out of those little bits of card in the rig or hook packets, big paper clip makes a decent needle too

2mm galvanized garden wire £1 for 10m from InExess, cut to around 50cm, at as sharp an angle as you can to give sharp point, straighten as best you can. 10mm bolt in a vice, bend the middle around the bolt so ends cross over give 2-3 helicopter twists of the two straight bits to hold together the eye you have formed. Strong enough to push through the front of a makie skull, but bendy enough you can spread apart to mount two baits for a cocktail and lash together.
