Hey Everyone,
Making my way south across Montana on The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. (GDMBR) In this video I end up camping in downtown Ovando, one of the friendliest towns on The Route. I ended up staying in the old jail from 188, located next to the Bar Museum. I met a lot of really nice people in that town, full of all kinds of history and information about Ovando and the surrouding areas.
Having a great time on The Divide. Bike packing Montana is such great time.
Thanks for stying tuned, much more to come.

Dude! The GDMBR is on my bucket list for the last few years, maybe when I retire. I’ve watched all the videos series and this is hands down the best one! Thanks!

The Lady at the Gen store tried telling you your going to fast. The puncture was trying to tell you to stop in Helena and get refreshed. The two camping sites super cool. I remember in your load out review video you flipped off that pump hope you apologized and made amens to your pump. Glad you were able to keep rolling along without much delay. A beer at that lama ranch Damm that must have tasted soo good. Keep on Trucking along my friend thank for bringing us along.

The pump turned out to be pretty great. I think the puncture was telling me to quit ripping downhills with all this weight.

Thanks for the update. The Llama Ranch is another item to add to the list of great things in America. Free?! Food, room, drinks? Oh, my gosh. Where I am people would charge over $100 a night, when nothing where I am even compares to Llama Ranch. BTW, has anyone ever looked at your helmet and called you Mr. Smith? I probably would, unless I knew it was a helmet maker.

Tubeless? I remember you telling me you were tubes for life! 4 years tubeless on all our bikes and never a flat. Montana is a serene state...so contemplative to tour around there. Thanks!

Try 700x34 Vittoria Terreno Zero tires for touring now, the folding bead ones, those are awesome. 120tpi for a plush ride, and they last a very long time. You can get the 'Mixed' variant for the routes that are majority coarse gravel and softer dirt. They're less than a pound, so you can also carry a spare tire easily.

It was a nice little town. What happened last year is something that we are all aware of, strange when these things happen though. I was going to camp in the exact spot, but the guy across the street said i could sleep in hat little jail. IDK. Be safe out there.

The ride is filled with great views, long as there is not a view if a Grizzley with a top speed of 35mph. Don't think saving a couple of pounds is worth giving up the equipment myself but you have the experience. Always good video content. Be well, be safe.

Did you preplan your route and load it to the wahoo at the start?
@TravelingThru222
@TravelingThru222 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, there was preplanning and lots of research. I’ve been looking at this route for a few years. The GDMBR is downloaded straight to The Wahoo, and I follow it turn by turn. If I take a wrong turn the Wahoo chirps. I take wrong turns everyday, this route is impossible without the gps file.

@@TravelingThru222 sweet. You have the Roam, right? Me too, it’s great. If I were to ride a route like that, and I never could, I would take a back up with me. I know they’re expensive. But… Two is one, and one is none. Just a thought…

@@TheRickurb Yes, Wahoo Element Roam. Its totally awesome. I hear ya on carrying two. If I was racing, then absolutely. The Wahoo has only died twice on me out there, due to not charging 100% the night before. In that case I took a break for 10 minutes and charged it, in that time it was up to around 30% and enough juice to get me to camp. It lasts all day even the centuries, 10-12 hrs saddle time, with 30% to spare from full charge. Boo ya.
