@@EatSeeRV thanks so much for this reply. You've made my day. It's Good to know there's still a few good ppl left in this world. Thanks so VERY much. In 1974, they used to drain the lake, that's what I was told by him, he went swimming in a subdivision where his nehews lived the day he got there From TN. The very next day, he stayed all night with his nephews and went swimming the next day at the same place, same dock he jumped from less than 24 hrs before then. He was the first of 3 boy's to reach the dock and dove right in, it was about 3 to 5 ft deep. Thank God for his family being there and going to call 911. God is good. Thanks again. Have a great day. I hope it's pretty in FL today I do wish I was at the ocean because it's raining and wet in TN. If I ever do get the chance to come to lake okachobee FL I'll definitely stay at your RV park. Thanks again and have a great fa

I’m an RVer myself but I live in Florida and travel to other states and wish many other states were as accommodating as Florida is for RVers. I am glad that people who come here find that there are many places that are free or really low on the budget and still offer a lot of accommodations.

Great Vid. My New 30 ft fifth wheel camper has one battery. Every thing on my rig has to have either shore power or battery. I’ve been in Florida all my adult life and yes it gets 32 and below. Central heat takes plenty of power. So you must have Solar to boondock.

No doubt! It breaks my heart when we roll into a public land camp that's been trashed. I've seen notices posted closing BLMs out west specifically because the managers are simply tired of cleaning up after people. Being that you're a Floridian, like us, do you have any thoughts on how we can solve the red tide & agriculture pollution situation we're all facing this year? Is been a growing problem for some time and a bit of a hopeless situation. - Dennis ✌️

As of 2020 the sites are now designated where you can park. I think DePuis has 28 sites and I think the maximum stay time here is 9 days. I have stayed here around five times and I love it. You will need to talk to the campground host too. Lots of hiking trails also. This site has a separate area for equestrian use too. Great horse trails. The website is tricky but well worth learning.

Eat See RV Carey on Vagabond told me about the site. They come here often. Another thing if you really need to go to Walmart or get a Rx head East on the highway into Hobe Sound for a CVS, etc. If turn right on the main highway when you get into Hobe Sound Dickerson State Park is just down the road on your right. It was an old secret radar training facility during WWII and if you are a birder, home to many Scrub Jays. They also have super bicycle trails.

The FWC and Florida's 6 water management districts are separate entities. The FWC operates the wildlife management areas ( WMA) and the 6 water management operates their own. One us for preserving valuable land(FWC) and the other for preserving Florida valuable water resources. Both aim to reduce or forbid any development on their tracts.

While it might be somewhat easy to find free camping inland and without reservations, finding a spot at all at a state campground near the coast is impossible in the winter, especially south Florida. The reservation system sucks where lots of rv'ers make reservations that they don't even use and the demand is so high in general. Also Walmart overnight parking in Florida is almost completely gone forever. luckily for us, we like the inland spots but staying near the water requires some planning.
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV 5 жыл бұрын
True, you definitely can't expect to roll into a state park in the Florida keys during "winter" and get a spot longer than 1 night, if you're lucky, without making reservations WAY in advance. Liz even mentions you HAVE to be a planner to get the sweet spots. But, I'm sure that's why, like us, you enjoy inland camping. Less hustle & bustle, a little more laid back... That's what we enjoy! Thanks for sharing Jack! - Dennis ✌️

I see some bikes, but many people are too heavy to ride comfortably on a bike or are too balance challenged to do so anyway although they wish they could. RECUMBENT TRIKES to the rescue! FOLDING recumbent trikes! The Terra Trike Rover is better suited for the senior rider, but does not fold up for easy transport. The excellent Catrike line of trikes are manufactured at their facility in Orlando. Find a dealership and test ride a few models. You will be impressed by the experience. I see the layout of this particular park and readily see how recumbent trikes are going to be the wave of the future for maximizing the RV experience.

Great presentation. But could you answer a question? Can you run an AC generator at all or any of these parks?

Depends on the park. Most allow generators but only during certain hours.

Big camper was mentioned. I am old school, are small campers ok or even tent camping? Are there camper regulations? There are clubs like teardrop or converted enclosed trailers. School bus, mentioned, is cool but not efficient mpg. With soo many new techs up and coming like to go cheap at first. Any stock-club campgrounds, lol??

Great info, But disclaimer, as far as not needing to plan ahead. Went to the websites, to get a permit, most are booked for 3 weeks ahead of time. So you still have to get a permit ahead of time, well weeks ahead vs 11mounths at the state campground, but you can't just randomly drive to FL and get a site.
@EatSeeRV

Definitely depends on the site. Some (the more easily accessible or close to cities) are definitely popular than others. Thanks for the heads up and tip for others though!

Thanks for the vlog! I would like to discover Florida with an RV, but I‘m German, so I‘d need to rent one. Any ideas, where to do this? What about the Keys? I‘m afraid, that I would have to chose not so cheap campgrounds, right?
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV 5 жыл бұрын
Yes there's options for renting. They're are private companies that have you rent from individuals or bigger companies like cruise America. The keys can be expensive in private parks. If you can reserve a spot on one of the state parks they're gorgeous and often on the water or nearby! Good luck! - Liz

Yes prices for RV parks can be quiet spendy. Boondocking is FREE most of the time, which can help keep costs down. It's also nice just to have more space, be in nature, and often times alone. - Liz

I'm a new RV owner. This type of camping appeals most to me, not necessarily because it's free but probably moreso because it doesn't look too crammed and is in places I'd actually like to hike etc. So what do people in these places do for electric? Having only been a tent camper before, friends in that circle considered it rude when RVs ran their noisy generators all night.
@EatSeeRV
@EatSeeRV 5 жыл бұрын
You're totally right. Typically less cramped or busy than an RV park would be. You would need to be able to dry camp or "boondock" meaning run off your battery power, or limited generator use. We have a solar set up and larger battery bank so we can boondock without having to run the generator all night. - Liz
