IMRAN BRO! post another video please! the closer to complete your series is, the more people will watch. so i have a suggestion, you could add to the titles 'icnd1/ccent intro - conclusion' so people can see that you have already uploaded the entire icnd1/ccent course once you get to that point. it will make a big difference and people searching for a great icnd1/ccent series would be able to clearly see the entry level course and how many videos it is. think about it ! great series

Just to help people to understand and not being confused, almost all of your devices which claims that they are doing NAT, are actually doing PAT (actually NAPT, networking addresses and ports translations), including your home router.
@kowshikkshatriya7 жыл бұрын
Why port translation needed ?In your example instead of translating 51772 to 23556, why can't it use same and forward the packet with 200.124.22.1:51772 ?

From where will get those public IP's for the NAT outside interface? I simply can't use a specific IP as I want because it can cause confliction. Who manages all these things? How does the system work?
@mhegedus75 жыл бұрын
In the Static NAT demo both the outside interface of Router 0 and the NAT translation of PC1 are set to 200.124.22.1. Wouldn't this cause a conflict? I tried this setup in my own Packet Tracer and found that pinging between PC1 to Router 1 works fine, but pinging from Router 0 to Router 1 fails. The ICMP packets go to Router 1 and back to Router 0 but Router 0 sends it to PC1 which drops the packet. Just want to clarify if this you see this as a problem with this configuration.

Could you please suggest , how we can utilise the available 5 nos of public IP. From this video I understood that even though I am creating a Nat Pool, every time the first IP alone gets hit. So I am not sure how to use the rest of the IP's in a efficient way.
@yusufhamisi60968 жыл бұрын
You can have a Nat Pool of only one public IP. ip nat pool NETWORK 200.124.22.1 200.124.22.1 netmask 255.255.255.255 Furthermore, if you have 5 private networks and 5 public IPs, then each network can have its own Nat Pool of one public IP.

You said, in STATIC NAT, every single host have an individual public facing IP..ok. You also said If any web server running in the network with STATIC NAT enabled. Let's say I'm running an ftp server in my lan of internal ip 192.168.1.3:21 and public ip of 10.256.28.54. According to what you said; If someone needs to access the ftp server (10.256.28.54) can access it. But in this case I'm running an ftp server. My question is..Will the request coming from the internet redirects to ftp port without portfowarding ? Can I set port along with STATIC NAT?

Hi brother thanks for your veduos I have one doubt (30.29 min) u put subnet mask 255.255.255 .252 as we knw it's a /24 network can u tel me how . 252 comes plz explan me should be a 255.255.255.0 wrong?
@BeeBumper5 жыл бұрын
Anyone understand why when choosing the subnet mask for the IP NAT pool he chose 255.255.255.252. Either way when setting up the devices IP's he did put the SNM as 255.255.255.0. Using dot 252 doesn't seem practical at all. I considered the fact that he has only two translated IP's inside global but again that makes for a network that for inside communication, no internet, that still can only handle 2 devices at once with that SNM considering a Network ID and B/C ID have to be available. You can't have a subnet mismatch meaning you can't have the NW SNM be 255.255.255.0 and then try to input this mask. It is a mismatch, and that usually ends poorly, so why would he choose this as he even seemed taken back by it but then just continued without explanation. The command I refer to is: IP NAT pool NWKing 200.124.22.1 200.124.22.2 netmask 255.255.255.252 again a usable SNM but after accounting for NW ID and B/C ID, this may not apply, it leaves only a 2 device NW which won't be able to communicate within itself beyond 2 devices. It also throws into confusion why choose 192.168.1.100 for the server? His network shows 3 devices again adding confusion. I did consider for translation we only need two but for global communication, that isn't considering communication within the NW itself that isn't global in nature. Am I missing something?

Hi All, Any one pls clarify for static NAT either direction communication can be initiated. i think if inside global is of diff nw than interface towards ISP , then its not possible to initiate communication from ISP to inside host, it could be possible only whn inside global and translated public ip is on same nw. pls correct me if i am wrong. Thanks.

I think you mean "side" and not "said". A ping request is successful only when its sent and replied back. So if you can ping from one side to another, then you can ping from the other side. I stand to be corrected.

@ohdihe17 жыл бұрын
Hey. From what I understood, using a netmask of 255.255.255.252 for the pool of ip address that the NAT can assign means that the pool should only have 2 addresses. Remember a 255.255.255.252 means /30 CDIR. Which is equivalent to 64 subnets and 2 host address (2^2 - 2). So he only gave two ip address for the NAT NTWKING pool which are 200.124.22.1 and 200.124.22.2. Hope it is now clear.
