Hey David. I'm the keyboardist in my church. The church just recently bought a new mixer with the hopes of having the same sound we had in our last anniversary when we hired a professional team to run sound. Well aha I'm not surprised we sound fairly the same as I've been saying it's not so much the equipment but the mix. Nonetheless we're blessed to have the good stuff we have so I want to be able to contribute what I can to move up into perfection. We have drums, percussion, bass, keys, organ, three guitars, brass, and ten lines for vocals. All the help mixing everybody is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless. Archiell

I work with My Church office and sometimes the Media team may be late to set Up, so because I will be there I was shown how to power the Amplifier and mixer for weekly Services. I however face so much challenges because our sound man is not really a Music person. He is A vast Electrician. He is not good with teaching, how to manage the sound Mixer "Midas M32" I need help. 4:04

hey there I have been involved in church sound since 1990 at about 7 churches all with systems widely ranging from simple to concert systems with a holdback and Foh desk to a digital desk, Budget and training is the thing that jeopardises most churches in my experience.

Hey David, Thank you so much for your help with church sound! I'm the Youth Leader at an Anglican church in the UK. I also know a little about sound, so I jump on the desk when nobody else is around. I was raised by worship leaders and professional musicians from birth, so I know when the sound isn't what it should be. I've been looking for something that would underline "common best practise" for how to set up the sound, from a behind-the-desk perspective, as well as best practise for setting up a stage (ie: what mics to use where, what cables to use on an instrument vs on a speaker, should you coil a cable during use, does the music team really need a monitor?, etc). I'm really hoping that your courses/dvds might help with that! Thanks again!

I assist with sound at my church and our tech is good but he needs help. We have studiolive 32SX just 2 months supporting drums, piano, guitar, mandolin and 3 singers. Monitors can be challenging as well as learning the controls. I love assisting but need course.

LOL! Oh man. I think the best way for a n00b to get experience at this is to find Jesus and start attending church. No joke. You're a very generous guy David. Well done.

Hello, Here is a rundown of the equipment I have: Mixer: Mackie CF20 Power Amplifiers: Crown Ultratech 1010 (x2) Graphic EQ: Samson E62 1/3 Dual 31 Band Equalizer 20 channel Snake JBL speakers (not sure model)(x2) JBL monitors (x2) I am the worship leader for my local church. Although I know a little bit about mixing & audio engineering, I am a little confused about this issue. I "inherited" the sound system when I became a member of the church. It is obvious that all of the equipment was installed incorrectly...continue reading and I'll explain how I know this. Note: All of the cables used to connect things have been ran through the ceiling, so I am unable to get a clear picture of the setup. However, as I previously mentioned, the system is wired incorrectly. When I connect the speakers to the "main out's" on the mixer, no audio is outputted to the speakers, regardless of the level of the main mix. However, when I connect the speakers to the "sub out's", there is audio outputted to the speakers. Therefore, my question is: What is the proper signal chain to connect all of this equipment? Where does the Graphic EQ fit in the mix? If I wanted to send the signal from the Mackie CF20 into another, smaller mixer (which has a USB port on it to record), what "output" should I use?

Hello David. My name is Luis Rossy and I'm a volunteer at my church doing the sound, with about one year experience and really wanting to learn and help our sound team leader to get the sound were it needs to be. We have no sound engineer and I really want to learn how everything works to get trained and be able to train others the right way. Anyways we acquired about 6 months ago a allen and heath qu-32 and want to get that better equalized.

Is this still available? I'm a Bible translator in Maluku, Indonesia and am helping the small village church where I work with sound, instruments, and multimedia. We want to train a few sound people and I'm looking for materials in Indonesian or something I can adapt since I'm not seeing the kind of thing I'm looking for in Indonesian.
