If you want to pick up copywriting, don't pay out $$$ when you don't have to! Bob Bly's Copywriter's Handbook & cashvertising is a good start. Other OGs? Guys like Dan Kennedy, Clayton Makepeace, John Forde, Caples, Mike Forde, Eugene Schwartz and Gary Bencivenga are the ones who made copywriting to what it is today. Current A list copywriters: Stefan Georgi, Kim Krause Schwalm, Carline Anglade Cole, Dan Ferrari, David Deutsch, John Carlton, Parris Lampropoulos. Check out their interviews on YT. No worries. Absolutely! Honesty goes a long way. Tell them what you want and what you'd like to help with, a doc would be great, it's all about showing that you're serious and can do good work for them, and someone will take a chance.

What copywriting jobs did you do? I tried looking for some but it got too overwhelming and stops me from hsing that option on the side whilst learning copywriting for over a year straight (also helps with the expenses and running costs i tend to incur whilst learning marketing and copywriting)

I did a sub-editor job for a couple of years, then copywriting in marketing departments, essentially as a content manager.

@@MrYounis26 Being a content marketer is a great start. Most stuff I do isn't "direct" anyway. The big myth with copywriting is that it's somehow a form of hypnosis that makes people immediately hand over all their money, but the reality is different. Also all that matters with direct copywriting is understanding your niche or product and selling to the right audience.

Why would you tell people to fake testimonials and work?

Don't fake testimonials, but work doesn't have to be real work, it can be 'sample' work, and you can write this underneath it. I tell people to do this because sometimes it can be so hard to get your first client with literally no experience, but if you show you can at least write and go to the effort to make some assets, you will be more appealing.
