Lawn tractor now starts, runs, mows, and drives great. Welding the muffler pipe was a bit challenging as well as loosening up the PTO cable. Lucas oil penetrating oil worked just great.

Wayne here from Canada again. Henry good point on fuel shut off valve. We just got in a 12/38 Toro riding mower that we sold late March this year and it was fully serviced. At Eliminator Performance we install fuel shut off valves on all gravity fed fuel systems just for the reason you pointed out ie: fuel getting into the crankcase. After using the rider until yesterday appears his grandson had left the fuel valve in the open position and you guessed it the needle valve got a piece of dirt or whatever causing it to leak fuel into the crankscase. Got the call to pick up and repair which we would normally do at no cost if it was something we did wrong. Used the Pela 6000 and pumped out 4 litres of fuel oil mix. Put in 48 ozs fresh 10W30 to run and flush out to clear all fuel and found starter gear damaged from continually trying to run the rider while it was hydrolocked causing the top section of the gear to be peeled off. My son may be putting up a video on his channel Tech Tips #2 hopefully on the importance of doing the 5 second oil check before starting your riding mower. If the level is higher than the last time you checked WHO ADDED OIL TO THE ENGINE? Gotta make you think you forgot to shut off the fuel shutoff and possibly the carb is leaking into the crankcase eh! By the way our fully serviced mowers always have the carbs pressure tested, bench tested and sit for days with the fuel shutoff in the open position to ensure there are no leakage issues. Additionally fuel tanks are flushed as well as the fuel lines which normally getting changed out if they appear brittle or are showing signs of ethanol damage. TO ALL KZbinRS CHECK YOUR OIL BEFORE STARTING YOUR ENGINES IT TAKES 5 SECONDS AND MAY SAVE YOU $500 EH!

Yo Henry, I had my doubts about that Craftsman, being it was water logged! Everything seems to work well and the deck is smooth too. I think you could have gotten those muffler bolts out by running the engine for a while and heating them up. Good job kid!

No I agree the red sells much better paint the sucker red and when you're doing an oil change and you got that sludge I dumped a litre of diesel fuel in the motor and let it run clean after the oil is gone by makes a world of difference and old mechanic told me that years ago
