I’ve done similar & found some leather insoles which have an underside of carbon to absorb any sweat. This is of course highly conductive & works well. Modern military boots are usually antistatic these days with conductive soles.

I have soft sole mocassins but they came with polyester and foam insole GLUUUED into them. Geez. I tried removing the insole. It's not working. Geez. So I'm going to do something like this... but I don't need to poke a hole because they are low shoes... I can take flattened wire and mold it to go from inside the shoe on the bottom, up over the opening then around the shoe and under the sole. I think I'll do a full loop to go back in as well. Then it will touch my ankle and bottom of foot in more places and touch the ground in more places. I can tape or sew it (using leather needle... or if i were doing this to water shoes could see through the cloth side to tac it down) into place. This could be made more conductive with carbon/leather inserts this basic method can be used on any shoes or slippers. I'd rather have it on all of my shoes, but what's the point since the cities are concrete anyway. I'll just do this to a pait for grounding at home (mocassins) and a pair of boots for hiking and a pair of tennis shoes or running shoes for parks etc. Hm. Maybe water shoes for rocky streams, rivers and beaches.

From what ive observed the grounding shoes are all made of leather . Leather soles only .
