That is such a cool idea! I'm going to see if my dollar tree has totes. They didn't last time. Because of you and your videos, my garden is mostly a row of totes under my unused clothesline. lol. I'm going to figure out how to use sticks and rope as trellises for poles beans and tomatoes.

G'day👋 Robbie your amazing as always. I love your videos. I've learnt so much from you. You have great ideas. Love the latest one. Will be doing this one. Your tulle idea for the garden is the best. I bought some to put around my plants growing in pots to stop the black birds from digging into them. I don't stress anymore. They used to make such a mess. I finally beat them at their game. Thanks to you mate. The two varieties in my area are Indian minors and black birds. They're pests. And after they finished digging up they would let you know too. Now the laughs on them. 😀🥰 Melb. My in-laws put up several t-shaped poles made from PVC piping (looked like clothesline poles, one between every blueberry bush) and draped/clipped the bird netting along the top of the poles & over the berry bushes. The poles were taller than their largest berry bushes so they could actually unclip some netting and stand under it when they picked the blueberries! (or they'd just put their bucket/bowl and their hands beneath the mesh to pick). The way my father in law built it was genius!!

Just poke holes in the bottom. You can make almost anything into a planter if you put holes in the bottom. You can use a dremmel tool, a utility knife, scissors, a knitting needle...whatever will get through the material you're using. I make planters out of Halloween candy buckets (I'm a spooky loving person), by poking holes in the bottoms for drainage. I have several Begonias in those spooky buckets. My neighbor hates me for it, but I don't care 😂

These Sterilite containers are recycle #5 which is used in food packaging. Now whether they leach is another question but if you’re ok with “food grade” plastics then these meet that criteria.
@dcwatashi
@dcwatashi Ай бұрын
@@Robot_Cajun was a video, not too long ago, talking about a certain type of plastic that is getting into our body from packaging. I forget the name of it, but I could probably find the video It is a Catch-22. Either purchase food from the grocery store that has been sprayed with God knows what or take your chances with a plastic container and grow your own.

@@dcwatashi I’ve made my peace with it. I recall reading articles more than 10 years ago (I think from NPR and the New York Times) about certain color “BPA free” wide-mouth tumblers and baby sippy cups that leached when exposed to sunlight (let alone microwaves and dish washers). So I don’t really believe any plastic is safe. Still, I use plastic in my daily life and think gardening in totes is the least of the risk. If I were to be alarmed, I’d be more focused on the plastic wrapping and containers in direct contact with my food and liquids…but that’s pretty inescapable these days.
