If you do voluntary work without making content of it it's free. When someone (in this case KZbin) pay you it's not. Plus the woman "pays" by letting the whole world see her house and some can even spot the exact location too.

@@saftfan This guy is doing a great service for people in need, yet you want to throw dirt on him? Did he charge the lady? No. Then it was free. You should troll some other channel.

@@marcmccord5085 i don't throw dirt. If I (or KZbin) pay you for painting a man's house, then you are not doing it for free, even if the man doesn't have to pay anything. I'm getting tired of these channels who are cleaning, painting, mowing "for free", making tonnes of money on Tiktok, Instagram and KZbin. It's a business like all the other youtuber's channels, but at least they have the decency and not to claim they do their content for free.
@marcmccord5085

@@saftfan It is free to the person he is doing the work for. That is what he means by "doing it for free". No cost to the individual. I could care less if someone else pays him when mows and cleans up an old person's yard and doesn't charge them for it. He is providing them a service at no charge that they would normally have to pay for. I would bet that the people he does it for don't care, either. If you feel otherwise, you are entitled to your opinion. Forgive me for the troll comment... that was uncalled for on my part.

Nice job on that first Ligustrum. It will grow back in a pretty shape. Glad you showed using your mower for towing branches, instead of the personal pull over a long distance. Less wear on your health when you can do it. Enjoyed the revitalization of the appearance of the home as you went along. Orderly, brightness of light into the home,....The new one for me was the tall "bush" in the back, which turned-out to be the overgrowing vine you were talking about in your description. That was quite a good job of figuring how to take it down and get it back into form. Nice finished product you two and good teamwork.

Though the shrubs had gotten way out of control, they should come back better than before with proper maintenance, those shrubs must have been allowed to get that way over at least a decade, it's bad enough with keeping other stuff from growing with it, but that was way too much, especially in height, good job Brad

If each person who is able can do something to help someone else, whether big or small, I think that's the point. If we volunteer or somehow get paid for it, the point is to help another human being in need. You Tube is just one avenue. There's a lot of different things the average person can do if we are able. I say able, whether it's financially or physically. I always think that all of us may one day reach the point when we may need someone's help and I've been grateful for the help and I've given it back. I hope there's someone there for all of you if that day comes.

I would think for elderly homeowners, having a clear and reasonably manicured yard is important. If your outdoor area is orderly, you got less to worry about and even though you may not be going out as much, even looking out to a good yard can be a positive, calming thing. Having clear visibility from the inside of the house is important when looking forward for expecting visitors as well as being aware of what's going on. Keeping plants from overgrowing helps reduce not only the vermin from moving in, helps reduce how often gutters need to get cleaned, the access that utility companies might need to the sides or back of the house, and if there's maintenance that needs to be done they can get to those areas too. If there's an emergency and Fire and EMS needs to get to your house, they will need clear visibility of the house number and be able to easily see entryways. I would hope that this homeowner is able to open their windows and get some fresh air as well as get a bit more sunshine in... perhaps sit outside in comfort now as the plants aren't all overgrown. A lot of those tall bushes looked like they had healthy branches so I think they'll come in pretty well. And if not, well I'm sure the homeowner wouldn't mind having the stumps taken out and put some perennials in its place. In any event, I hope the homeowner was pleased and I do hope they're getting someone to help even with the mowing as that looks like a huge front and back yard to mow! Sheesh! Great job guys!

Yeah, I've done major prunes on shrubs like this many, many times -- and not only have the plants survived, they thrived! Like you said, the problem is that it will take a couple of years to fill back in again, but this is the only way to get such overgrown shrubs back into shape! Good work!

@Donna M Schmid: Would it make a difference if the scrub was cut to the base? Would it still grow back? I am wondering about shaping it when in grows back. I live in Canada btw. 🙂
@DonnaMSchmid
@DonnaMSchmid 2 жыл бұрын
@@alinaCatwatcher For the most part, you CAN cut back to close to ground level (though I would leave at least an inch or two). The only problem with that is that it will take even longer to grow it back to a shrub of reasonable size... So, if you want your shrub to be hip-level, cut it maybe 6-8" above your knee level; each year, prune the new growth back to maybe two inches. Within 2-4 years, you should have a nice, full, hip-height shrub. But if you cut it to the ground (or close to...), it would probably take 6-10 years to end up with the same size shrub! BTW, this type of pruning should be done in early Spring if you live in colder climates (like Canada!) That gives the plant the whole Summer and Fall to recover from the pruning shock and gives it time to sprout out new branches/leaves/etc. Hope this helps!

Watching you take out that shrub in front of the window, you did a perfect job. Problem with shrubs that are manicured is that they're always trimmed so round but the real thing to do is at the very center of the top leave a little nude spot for sunlight and rain to reach the inner branches so they don't die out while the suckers keep growing. Hard lesson to learn most people end up with nudes, lol

I took a landscaping class rule 1 dont put a tree right in front of you home, it takes away the beauty of your home. Rule 2 dont plant brushes or any plants close to your home for it will become a gateway for bugs to get into your home. Rule 3 make sure you read the tag on the plant or tree or bush to see how big it will become when it reaches matured and plant accordingly. Rule 4 if you dont like doing gardeningly dont purchase a lot of plants flowers ect. For you will have to maintain them daily .there was more do's and don'ts .But these our the only ones I remember off the time of my head. Excellent job on the yard and videoing
