I've tried pretty much all the major free golf apps. Here's how I rank them: 1. 18 birdies - best overall, user friendly, handy features, easy to connect and share with the lads. Also keeps record of all your scores and has a news feed, similar to Facebook or twitter. 2. VPAR - very comparable to 18 Bs, with slightly less features. 3. Golf pad - still very comparable to the two above, the layout is nice and the GPS has a nice flyover, but it's bit less user friendly than the two above. It's simple and straightforward. 4. Hole 19 - granted I didn't know about this measureing out yardages feature when I tried it, I just found the features, GPS, range finder, etc all slightly weaker than the competitors, glitches on the GPS and lots of ads was a turn off.

Been using Hole 19 for three years now, love it, some great data for driving accuracy, GIR, putts per green etc. For free you can’t complain at all.

Ive been using Hole 19 for a year now, mainly to check distance to the green/flag/bunkers et al when going around the course. Its superb for free - love the app, would recommend it above any other ive tried

Yes love this , carry distance is so important,I stopped using my shot scope as all you get is total distance which varies so much with different grounds and weather conditions.

Love your reviews and always upfront if its a paid review. I have used it for 2.5 years, used the free version for 6months n then paid the annual subs as its neglible. Its a good performance app n after awhile u get use to it all the handy features (espeically drag n check varios carry distance over hazards, flag positions etc) Good app especially on nee courses I have not played at. Only little complain I habe of it is the satelite pix are not clear especially when u zoom into the green but nothing major.

Love the Hole 19 app. Just yesterday went up against a friends Range Finder and on most holes it was within three yards on distance and love the shot tracer. Great review. I appreciate it.

I've had hole 19 for ages, replaced with shotscope, so the tracking was automatic. The putting distance using shotscope is inconsistent to say the least however appreciate that the GPS needed to be accurate to a foot or two is tricky. I'll go back to hole 19 for the yardage check on chipping. Had no idea you could do that with actually assigning a hole.

Great app Hole 19, I've used it for a few years. I actually match it in on the course to do my full strokes gained, with a bit of note taking - it's proved a cheap/free way of getting the data. Though it's often hard to pick apart.

I have been using the free version of Hole 19 for over a year. The only thing that bothers me is the ads.....small issue considering it is free. I also have it connected to my Apple watch. My golfing buddy uses the laser and we are always very close. Highly recommend.

I am happy your getting paid. Still trust your word if something is good or not💪 I used to use a free app but I got irritated having to have the phone in my hand the whole time so just got myself a garmin s40 that was on Sale. Golf watches are by far the easiest way to do it and keeps your score easily and all.

for a quick hack for a range finder, ebay hunting range finder and not "golf range finder" saves lots of money. same works with buying a tennis polo and not a golf polo. same stuff

The problem with these apps, is you can’t switch your recorded scores and history from one app to another. So you lose everything you entered if you want to change apps. There is no syncing between apps and no potability of the data.

I’ve been using Golfshot for sometime now with my Apple Watch and it’s definitely helped me bring my h’cap down. What do people think of top tracer at driving ranges? How accurate do you find those esp with range balls

Thought I would get this app after watching your vid downloaded it went to add my score cards from rounds I had played and it says I have to be a payed member can't add to a smart watch without paying 4.99 can't find the GPS part that you had on while chipping as that would have been great even if I could have done that part but overall most of the things you said came with the free app you have to become a member for and a year cost £40 and that would be each year you use it with no benefit to free member at all from what I could see as every feture I clicked on brought up the pick a subscription plan ether 1 month 6 month or a year plan

Some kind of Bluetooth connection might help, trouble is the need to be near the ball. GPS also is inaccurate to trace ball. Something needs to go on (thermal detection paint. When you hit a ball you compress it so it must heat up. This heat could be tracked) or in the ball like a chip. Over to you Simon. Do you have friends in NATO ? Thermodynamics.

i'm sorry but their "premium" maps are trash. 1000% the reason I download Hole19 and delete shortly after. 18Birdies has maps that are free and they crush Hole19.. This is so simple to fix. Hole19 still has work to do in my opinion.

You would need a ball with a chip. The chip might tend ti fail.

True, I was thinking more of being honest with whether you though you were in the landing zone. Towels have always been good for me as you can see them move or tend to bounce different when I rarely hit them 😂

Simon, I’ve had hole 19 for years now. I just turn up at a course go on the app and it picks up which course you’re on. Tap on it. That easy. I use the Apple Watch with it and put my score on each hole. It’s very accurate for distance. It also works out the stableford score. And if you save all your scores. You can add them in the handicap calculator and it works it out. Really easy to use. I’d recommend it. That’s why I use it. ⛳️🏌️‍♂️😎👍
