Be a bum, a tramp, whatever, just know who you are! 😆 There is something very cool about trains. I love the train trips!

"I think we are more Bums, actually." Hahahaha! 🤣 The mail car was quite spacious! The Hobo part of history is so interesting. Wow. We have never seen an exploded steam engine! We never knew this about the Caboose. - Jim & Michelle 😊

I knew the last USPS employee that worked on the GM&O RR in the mail car. He would grab bags and drop off bags as they went thru the small towns in Illinois. Hugh was fun to talk to!

We look forward to your vidoes each week! We enjoyed our visit to steamtown and Scraton. If you find your way traveling down I-85 in NC, be sure to stop by the NC Transportation Museum just off I-85 in Salisbury, NC. Like Steamtown, they also have a working roundhouse and train shops.

My grandfather was an engineer on the old NKP in the olden times (central Illinois). He started there after WWI and finished during the Korean War. Point is lots of people used to have long careers with the railroads. It wasn't easy work, it still isn't, but in many towns then it was the only place to find some decent jobs.

Thanks for watching and telling your story. Railroad jobs seem to be one of those "jobs of passion" that once you get into it, you stay with it.

The Wile E Coyote thing!!! Hahahahah yesssssss. I love all the different punches and the hobo symbols. This might be one of my favorite videos yet. But I say that every week. Hehe🚂❤ Cindy, thats a Vera Bradley pattern isnt it?? I have a Get Going tote in that pattern that I use specifically for Airstream trips!!! 🦩💙🦩💙

It’s interesting that you are from Vermont since Steamtown was originally in Bellows Falls Vermont before moving to Scranton. I never got to visit it in Vermont but I’ve been to its new home many times.

Oh, I love this! Wonderful! My grandad was a hobo (traveling worker) before he married and went to work on a ranch in Texas. Was the very first engine in the video a BigBoy? If so, there’s only 8 of those still on display across the country. I was able to visit the one at the Wisconsin railroad museum near Green Bay. Thank you for this video. It’s added to our “someday” list! Safe travels!

Thanks for watching and sharing your story about your Grandad. That is so very interesting. I went back to the brochure and indeed that is a BigBoy. It was built in 1941 by the American Locomotive Company. I didn't realize they were so rare...
