this little mod really makes it more responsive in terms of torque, i just cut off the end of the idle pulley housing as a spacer and it worked no problem

If youre not near a dealer you can always hacksaw off the end of the existing bracket instead of buying spacer! Great video

Thank god for your channel. I hear a grinding noise and after taking my belt off and running each pulley, I've located that it was that exact idler pulley making the noise. I've been looking for replacement and after watching your video, but since I have a 2006 G35, I decided to just delete it.

Great video! Well done...just have one suggestion...for us poor boys out there. Just use an angle grinder to cut the "leg" off the idler pulley, and reinstall. After all, you will not need this assembly again, and you can save $20 on a 30 cent bushing. Buy the new belt, cut the bush off the original assembly...done. or spend $115 on the "delete kit".

This was later removed from the factory on 2008 fx35 with the 3.5 DE so no you shouldn't run into any issues

you can reuse the compressor belt but the power steering belt needs to be switched out because your removing the pulley

Just came back to give my feedback after seeing this video yesterday and doing it to my 2006 350z i used the correct infiniti fx35 2008 belt just like he said, my cars working perfectly i did notice a litttle bit of acceleration improvement and also noticed that it made my exhuast a little quieter (but maybe thats just my car it has a few problems) overall i liked it and it was simple the spacer i couldnt find at oriellys the replacemnt belt was $24.99 and i used a regular nutalmost the size instead of the spacer worked out fine thanks man good video.

just did it yesterday you need to remove the air intake and take off the big hose to the radiator as well as take the cap off so make sure your car has cooled off at least an hour. then there’s just two bolts and it slides up n out after the two connectors are disconnected

this mod has no cons its gets rid of 1 pound of rotating mass and cleans up the engine bay other than that I can't say it has other benefits because I couldn't notice it.

start from the crankshaft and move your way up the pulleys

I got a 6k1165 and it worked. Its dayco brand. Maybe they run smaller bc it worked. So far

Huh??? Why are you doing this? To save one pound? Seriously??? It's an idler. It's on a bearing. It's practically frictionless. There is no horsepower savings here. Just wasted parts. Engineer.

Still has friction and maybe there isn't much gain but a gain at the least. You dont see drag cars with a idle pulley do you? His car, his mod. Go make try to make yourself relevant somewhere else. -Mechanic/Tech
