Nice! It’s very easy (almost no cutting except for those of lighter rows) but it doesn’t look that easy. Bonus! Great for gift quilt or for charity. I think it goes super quick. I like that it’s almost no waste with just a few inches of scraps for scrap bins. I think your older video like this is better, somehow I can relate more. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for making such informative videos. I’ve learned a lot by watching them. I do have a question. How do you decide what pattern to use when you quilt the top? I’ve made 4 large quilts that I brought to my quilt shop for quilting, and the choice of patterns is overwhelming! Any advice you could give will be very much appreciated!
@FatQuarterShopTX6 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! That choice is totally your preference! Some people prefer to get detailed and make things pop with their quilting, whereas other prefer an edge to edge pattern that highlights the themes of the quilt. Whatever you choose, we know it will surely look great!

@FatQuarterShopTX9 жыл бұрын
Hi Linda! To make this quilt twin-sized, adding 2 more squares on the Rectangle and Square rows will be make it wide enough. I would also add 2 more Rectangle rows and 2 more Square rows to make it tall enough for a twin.

I wanted to know If it would be possible to make this smaller for a newborn baby. I wanted to use the giraffe crossing stacker/layer cake Thanks
@FatQuarterShopTX10 жыл бұрын
Hi Becky! You can make the quilt smaller. For a 38” x 46.5” size, you will need 22 squares, so you will need two Giraffe Crossing 10” Stackers. In Step 1, divide them into 10 squares for Rectangle Rows and 12 squares for Square Rows. Step 2, assemble three rows of four squares for Square Rows. Step 3, assemble two rows of five squares for Rectangle Rows. Continue trimming and cutting as Step 4 and 5 state, but you will use all of your four cut Rectangle Rows. Assemble, alternating the Rectangle and Square Rows!

I am a fairly new quilter. Can you explain to me why is it that you only pin on the bottom end of the blocks when you are sewing the blocks together? Thanks!!
@FatQuarterShopTX7 жыл бұрын
When joining rows or quilt blocks you want to use pins for accuracy. Sometimes fabric shifts and we don't want that to happen. In the case, we pined the bottom because that is the area we want to meet up with our other piece exactly. Hope that makes since. Thanks for your question!

Place your backing on a table that is large enough to hold it (I use a ping pong table). Smooth is out and tape it around the edges with masking tape. Be careful not to stretch the fabric, but do make it "snug". Lay your batting on top of this, smoothing it as well. Then add your top and again smooth it. Pin your layers together with safety pins, avoiding your intended quilting lines. I use a Kwik Klip to aid in the pinning. Look it up on Nancy's Notions (that's where I purchased mine). Good luck!

i'm a new quilter, and find your top tutorials great, but i need to finish the quilt, and can not find any tutorials that go into depth on this
@Daughterofsantini9 жыл бұрын
joann descallar - there are lots of Facebook groups or Yahoo groups. I started by using books from the library. Once you get the quilt top done, I find that's the hardest part. Then you just assemble the top, batting in the middle, and backing, and sew through the layers and put on binding. There are a lot of ways to accomplish that, but those are the basics, and if you join a group, people will help you out and help you learn.
