Ummm. Do you realize the Tesla Mobile Connector can run on both 120V and 240V plugs including a 20A 240V dedicated circuit like the one you installed? There are several very good reasons to use the TMC versus other brands that I won't go into here. You already had the TMC so I don't get it... A 20A 240V shouldn't generate too much heat but it is a good idea to check the outlet once in a while after running for a while just to be sure. Also, make sure you used the correct gauge wire and torque both the breaker and the outlet to spec making sure the wires are well seated for a solid connection. All the best.

@danfoley1429 he sure could have done that, but this video is about putting in a home charging setup for “free”, by selling the TMC for $200 and getting the third party mobile charger for $70, he had $140 in hand for installation of the 240V circuit to his deck, with no outlay.

I was very aware. But this was “free” while the other one would have cost much more between the wiring and outlet installation and the purchase of a separate plug I realize there are “better” options but I wanted quick and dirty for free. We’ll get an actual home charger once the wife gets a Y.

But you only “achieved” 3kW. In a 230V world - congratulations - you just gained 700W over a standard granny charger. Crazy US power grid.

@@mondotv4216 literally said in the video, yeah this is for people who want better than 120 for cheap lol. If you want to charge at 7kw, this isn’t the video for you. LITERALLY. but thanks for commenting 😂 And it’s more like 3.7 if you do the math.

My utility (Rocky Mountain Power) reimbursed me for my Tesla Wall Connector. Many utilities in the US have similar programs. A 60 amp breaker will charge at 48 amps 240V, which is pretty fast.

Yup! My utility company will not. So I did it myself for as cheap as possible Hoping to help some people who are looking to do the same thing.

just watched a video where they are stealing the cords from the tesla power stations, unmanned of course and also stealing them from houses for the copper

Mostly electrify America and other third party chargers- teslas superchargers are way thicker and harder to cut. Also. I have homeowners insurance and live in a pretty low crime area haha. But yeah.. it’s like a few bucks of copper to ruin a really expensive charger 🤦♂️

I see that you wisely choose to charge your EV away from buildings and other vehicles 👍🏻

Nah I park it right next to my house and I park my truck next to it often. The main pic it’s right behind my house and in front of my garage… the hell kind of comment is this anyway lolllll
