Paul Kossoff is right up there with the all time greats. He had unique touch and feel, something that can't be learned. He took the instrument and created his own characteristic sound from the depths of his soul. He could produce that tortured searing sound that many guitarists, clapton included, can only emulate. His solos often consisted of few notes, but those notes were more expressive than any any number of tricks and fills. A super super guitarist. RIP Paul Kossoff.

mikhal that badass last name i forgpt you’re right it has nothing to do with that, because none of it was faster or more complex. And no, none of them could do vibrato as fast or intense as Kossoff did it. Kossoff respected black American blues and like the other British guitarists took it to new heights. The combination of these four musicians, all at such insanely young ages, is possibly the most complete example of perfect rock music! Paul Rodgers, unequalled as a blues/rock vocalist, Paul Kossoff who pioneered a guitar sound unique to him and loved by his adoring fans and revered by his peers. And then you have Andy Fraser and Simon Kirke who ensured the incredible rhythm of their music! The combination of Kossoff’s lead guitar solo and Fraser’s solo on bass has to be the best ever!

It's insane that this song is not more well known. And I can't understand why more bands (including free) didn't use a song format like that. I mean guitar solos are great, but it's nice when the bass gets to take center stage at an equal level, which outside of this song I really don't see.

My favorite guitar solo of all time is the ending of 'Come together in the morning'. Even David Gilmour couldn't match the minimalism and emotion of those notes, and it is absolutely certain that Gilmour WAS influenced by Kossoff. Paul was an absolute master of vibrato and knowing how to make notes count.
