Like most young men I was madly obsessed with Sonja. She was everything a young man wished for. Hugely talented, beautiful beyond words and so mysterious. Happy days early 70s.Saw them twice live Birmingham town hall and another venue I forget.. Superb band. Bought all of their early albums and I still have them. Today's world makes me miss those times so much..

What's surprising is that she sings a low alto line here (as a tenor, I can sing with her). Female rock or pop singers are almost always in the high female register. This low (but very clear and both strong and sensitive) voice creates some very unusual tension. Great.

I just missed you by a year. It was the eve of when The Who played Charlton in 1976. (The loudest ever gig at that time.) We saw Curved Air, A Band Called O and Brand X at The Roundhouse, then WALKED to Charlton FC to sleep, (we never slept) on the pavement, overnight waiting to see The Who, Little Feat, Alex Harvey et al. You try telling the kids of today that. They won't believe you, especially if you didn't record it on your stoopid phone. Lol.

To Razahillearievlis. NOT a word you say is true - except about Sonja Kristina's amazing voice. You are living in the past. In fact, today, the voices have never been better, because record companies realise at last, that a good voice is like them printing money!
@Bevsworld04
@Bevsworld04 Жыл бұрын
@bobair2 to me, the problem is the music itself. It's very "fake" (I guess), very little instruments, just synthesised through a computer, and there seems to be a lot less feeling within a song. They've become a lot less complex and less interesting to listen to, and the bit of good music that still comes out is suppressed because it isn't marketable anymore

RIP Francis, very sad news last week. Part of a great group of people who made one of the greatest live albums ever - 801 Live! Recorded at the Queen Elizabeth Hall with Eno, Phil Manzanera, Simon Philips, Bill McCormack and the late great Lloyd Watson, it was the first live album of it's kind with direct inputs from individual instruments to the mobile studio mixing desk. If you've never listened to it I would encourage you to do so, absolutely brilliant.

Saw them at a smaller venue in Heidelberg, circa 1972. Last song the guitarist/keyboard player with that cool hat turned his synth around and let the audience play and I was one of the players, so I guess I performed with Curved Air!

I am so glad that they keep these videos that were filmed in color a great historical document to the 1970s. It’s too bad didn’t have more color film in the 1960s that would’ve been awesome🎩🎩🎩🎩💰💰💰💰💰🎶🎶🎶🇺🇸

@@johnb7644 Aye! Mountford hall was great wasn't it. caught John Martin there as well, Liverpool was fantastic for gigs, almost everyone played here. My first was The Kinks at the Empire, saw Floyd there too. Mostly at the Stadium though, it seemed like there was a great band there every week, what a brilliant time to be alive for touring bands. and the free festival scene, Ah! Happy Daze. ✌️🐝☮️

My father was in the army, stationed in (West) Germany in the 60's and I saw Beat Club as it was broadcast there. They always seemed to get really good performers to appear and now the archive of those performances is a great resource to recall those great moments - look out for Julie Driscoll and the Brian Auger Trinity performing 'The Season of the Witch'. I saw Sonja Kristina in the London production of Hair and later saw Curved Air live twice, they were very good musically and VERY loud. After the second concert my ears were ringing for two days.
