Awesome video! Thanks for showing us around, super interesting! This is exactly the sort of thing that Mark and I explore when we are on our road trips around Australia

Oh cool, I hope you found some historical places that had zero people in them so you could enjoy them all by yourselves. hehehe Thanks for watching and commenting!

Google says radar was used on alot of ships in 1942. The living quarters sure were kinda small. Neat to see this,Thanks Cory.

Very cool! Thanks Sandra! Yeahhhhh you need to be small to sleep comfortably in those beds. hehehe

So many mannequins! It's spooky! I guess this ship is not open to tourists at night!
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
It would be fun to arrange a deal with them to be able to sleep overnight here. Thanks for watching!

Those mannequins kept catching me off guard. This was a cool video, thank you for sharing.

That was a very cool video, Mel and I really like old historic places or objects. gets me thinking of them when they were first built and the first people that got to use them. I couldn't imagine being in such a cramped environment, being well over 6 feet tall id have to wear protective gear all the time.
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
Yeah! Same. I try to imagine what it was like to actually be on the ship when it was in operation. Lots of history on that shit. I'm 6 feet so I feel ya. We wouldn't survive in those bunk beds. hahaha Cheers for watching and commenting!

i took a tour inside a submarine once when the hubby was stationed at groton naval base here in the states. Cool ship !
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
That's cool. I've been on one submarine only, but it wasn't in the water. It was on land as a museum feature at Pearl Harbor. I also like watching documentaries about life on board submarines. Thanks for watching!

Where have you been! *dramatic music playing* I miss your face. Even though I am subscribed I have not been receiving any notifications. So glad this finally popped up after months. Anyway miss you, stay safe.

Ohhh I'm so sorry. Yeah I figure many people still haven't realizes I did a live stream and uploaded a video yet. YT notifications have been broken since 2014. Such a shame. Please be safe and stay tuned for the next video!

Excellent tour. Those stuffed Huskies aren't the actual dogs are they?😱 For some reason I find old ships absolutely terrifying... Good to have you back Cory, you've been missed :)
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
No no, those were like some wool dogs they made. It's not the real fur or anything. hehehe Appreciate you watching and commenting!

@@CoryMay81 Ok, you never know with taxidermists - I've got an excellent photo of some stuffed animal I found in a junk shop, I'll post it in the Discord when I get a chance. One of these days I'll catch a livestream too.

Been on the aircraft carrier in San Diego
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's the retired U.S.S. Midway CV-41 that my dad was stationed on for 4 years. It's homeport used to be Yokosuka, Japan back in the 80's. I've been on that aircraft carrier tons of times. hehehe

Small world Cory,... I was aboard the LHA3 US Bellauewood too (sorry about the misspelling, never could get it right). Got my Sea Service Deployment Ribbon & saw the last performance of the Thanksgiving Special with none other than Bob Hope! Yeah, I'm dating myself. Late 80's, also went to Korea for the Olympics. It was a magical time before computers. Ha ha.
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
Super cool! My high school graduation was on the flight deck of the Belleau Wood in 1999. I remember Bob Hope doing USO tours though I never got to see him. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Interesting and entertaining video. What role did the Soya play at Midway?
@CoryMay813 ай бұрын
It was used in the Imperial Navy's minesweeper fleet. It also survived a torpedo attack. One of the two torpedos was caught and they brought it on board to celebrate that they didn't blow up. hehehe so crazy

@@CoryMay81 Yeah... In the words of the Motown poet, Edwin Starr "War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing." Keep up the good work Cory and keep it moist 🤣
