Aloha Cory ~ This was a fun walk....the bright lights and lighted up marquees made this night walk a playful one. It’s fascinating the amount of figurines that are made to support the webtoon and manga characters. I love that it seems safe to be walking around & doing your own thing with people moving out of your way but then you’re in a city/country where being polite is the norm. There’s so much chaos here in the United States especially with the elections & the cases from the pandemic still peaking so this was a great distraction. Thank you for going out of your comfort zone during COVID-19 just so you can take us outside of Matsudo. As always stay safe and stay healthy 🏝

Hi Cory, hope your are well. I am so happy that you started your walks in Tokyo. I know it is not easy to walk around a city during the Pandemic when suffer from anxiety. Recently, I have had a few anxiety attacks. Therefore i only go out if I really need to. I laughed so much, when you pointed out the green Adult store. In London these stores are low key.😃😃😃. It gets dark in London from 4pm onwards. Cory stay safe.

Hi AuntyM66, thanks. I'm glad you could enjoy the video. I'm sorry that you had experienced some anxiety attacks recently. I hope you're OK now. Please take it easy. My anxiety isn't so bad these days so I'm able to go out and do things. Oh yeah, the adult stores in Japan are very obvious and advertised very openly. Even in a family-friendly store like Don Quijote, they have an adult section. And adult magazines are in every convenience store, taking up a huge section of the available rack space. It has been like this decades. Anyway, thanks for watching! Please take care!

Yeah, most definitely. It's weird because right after I posted this video, Tokyo, Osaka, and Hokkaido just announced their highest daily count for infections in a long time. Some think it's the beginning of the 3rd wave coming into the late fall / early winter season. Others attribute it to all the Halloween stuff about 2 weeks ago. Today is actually the 1st anniversary of my trip to Japan! We went on some business for my dad (his English is kinda bad so I was officially his translator) so most of our week was full of meetings, business dinners and things like that. But I told him - we must go to Akihabara. He was a good sport about it but he was so baffled by everything it was hilarious. I know there are other vegan ramen places in Tokyo, but this is the only one I know of personally. So when it comes to dining everyday, are the restaurants good and cheap? Past experience in Hong Kong there wasn't much of an option as the apartment didn't have much of a kitchen. Going out was pretty hit and miss for someone not used to the cuisine.
@CoryMay814 жыл бұрын
You can definitely find all price ranges for food in Tokyo, to match your budget. Some people eat out 2 or 3 times a day for all their meals, especially if they aren't married and are busy working. There are lots of little shops that cater to those types of lifestyles. Quick in & out style eating for budget prices. I personally cook at home mostly because in my area in Matsudo, there aren't too many cheap restaurant options. Maybe just 1 or 2 near my house, but it gets old eating the same thing often. I kind of wish I lived in Tokyo to be able to explore more of the food that exists there. Tokyo has the most restaurants in the world, with over 474,048 restaurants. Insane, right?!
@Pduarte794 жыл бұрын
For those that don't live there, this videos and the 4k walking videos is a good way to experience Tokyo. 13:34 I'm not gonna speak for the other weebs, but I bet most don't mind, if u show more figurines 😍😉. Where I live, stores that sell those, are pretty rare.

Yup! I've been doing these walk & talk type of videos since 2013. I think it's the best way to really let viewers from around the world see and experience a place. I know many walking channels don't talk during their walks, which is fine. I always talk, because I like to share my thoughts and also some tidbits of info that I know about for the viewers to enjoy. They're not making as much money as before the pandemic, but they're still surviving from domestic customers. Some other smaller businesses have shut down, though. The government is providing assistance to those smaller businesses that took a hit in revenue this year.

Thank you. It was like the next best thing to being there. I’m curious, besides airfare how much money in US dollars would someone need for 3-4 days visit with minimal shopping? Just basic hotel, train fare and food etc. just basics. No fancy restaurants or hotels. I would just sightsee like you were doing and maybe buy a few simple things that I can’t get in the USA. Thanks.
@CoryMay813 жыл бұрын
I'm really not sure, to be honest. It all depends on your budget, plus having some emergency money as well in case something happens (delayed flights, extended stay, insurance, etc). For that many days with what you said, I'd bring $1500 to $2000, just in case. You probably won't even spend more than $600 or so in that time, but having at least double that amount, if not more, is advisable. It also depends on the quality of the trip you want. Do you want to rough it backpacker style and eat cheap convenience store food or pay a little more to have a comfy AirBNB and enjoy delicious meals in an affordable restaurant? Etc... Many things to consider. But yeah, cheap travel to Tokyo is possible if you're smart about it all. ^^
@vetryder3 жыл бұрын
Yes I’m fine with eating from 7/11, McDonald’s, or even the just add hot water type cheap cup o noodles and maybe a modest meal or two at a dine in restaurant. All I need is a small lockable room with a bed and shower, nothing fancy. My idea is fly in, stay in the same place and walk around in one of those places I’ve seen where there’s a lot of shops and bright beautiful lights. And maybe go have a little fun at a karaoke bar once. Maybe they can tolerate a chubby hairy American if I sing for them lol.

Alleys aren't really the safest place here in America, so it's so odd to see you and other Japan walkers just mosey on down these alleyways with little worry! I'd be terrified, especially as a woman! But, I suppose if you know how to maneuver them, it isn't so bad, right? And yes, Times Square is a great comparison! I went there in 2019 for my 18th birthday and high school graduation celebration! Is jaywalking not popular/illegal in Japan? (It's technically illegal here in the U.S. too, but if you know how to safely jaywalk a lot of people just kind of forgive it lol) It was really neat seeing all of the Pokemon merch in those shops!! I would go broke buying every Mew plushie or figurine I see 😂 Thank you for uploading and stay safe!!
@CoryMay813 жыл бұрын
Asia is relatively safe to explore without worry of being mugged, shot, stabbed, or jumped... especially Japan and Korea, two of the safest countries in the world. Unfortunately, no country is perfectly crime-free or safe. People jaywalk in Japan, just like they do in America. Look both ways twice, make a little run for the other side. hehehe But in general, the majority tend to follow the crosswalk light. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more videos!
