Dang it nagkamali ako sa B. anthracis vs B. cereus about lecithinase. Tinuro samin is (+) and (-), respectively. Checked multiple sources and same pala results in general (in general, kasi may small % of strains na negative).

Sir. Good morning po. Regarding po sa Taxo A and Taxo P na question, is Bacitracin po ba a good differential test as well, aside from optochin, to differentiate pneumococci and viridans group? Provided po na there are other strep groups that can be resistant or sensitive in bacitracin unlike the optochin..

Hello, Vic! Thanks for the great questions! Taxo A is not the ideal test to differentiate S. pneumoniae and the viridans group, but it can be possibly used. It will depend on how the question was asked in the board exam. If ang tinatanong is ano ung routinely ginagamit, then our answer would be Taxo P, as well as the bile solubility test. You can check Mahon's Diagnostic Microbiology Table 15-3 p. 334
