Such happy & content chickens. You should hold them alot while they're young so most of them create a bond with you and with that you won't have a hard time chasing them in case a few decides not to go back inside the coop at night. They will follow u instead. It's a headache to chase chickens that doesn't see u as their parent/owner

I'm going to repeat what I said b4, don't allow the chickens to free range everywhere, everyday they will begin to eat all the new shoots of plants first and eventually your land will be bare... Instead section off areas daily and keep them locked in the shelter in the morning and feed scraps first, then let them out into sectioned area of the land available to them... Around the shelter you could easily have 12 or more sections... But only allow them in for a few days at a time in any section... This will give the other sections recuperation time. You will see that if you continue doing this the way you are doing, very soon your land will become bare...... You have to manage them in the free range concept, if you leave it up to them they will eventually destroy your land... This is about managing the land so it remains abundant for the chickens and your project.
@FarmUp3 жыл бұрын
True. I let them out only in the late afternoon. So there isn't much damage done. And the space is huge. But I'll sure do what you've suggested in the near future

I think the Bert strategy for free range is keeping the birds under a movable trailer and move them on different parts of the the grass so they remain protected under the trailer but still free ranging. Try to build something like that and see how it helps.
