Lately I have been hooking a lot so I went to the range to try this thinking it could not get worse. First swing was dead straight. Most of my swings were dead straight. After unintentionally drawing, hooking and duck hooking, seeing a perfectly straight drive is like seeing a UFO. You stand there shocked. I also found that it felt like I was swinging faster than I have before. I think it is because when you free release, you are no longer guiding the club. It feels like the club has a mind of it's own and I will admit it is a little terrifying. Got home and tested old swing and free release with the swing radar. Fastest was 99 vs 109. 10 mph faster? I have never swung that faster ever ball or no ball. I have two more range days before I play 18 on Sunday. I will take the radar with me to see the speed while hitting a ball.

Wouldn't hitting an impact bag help someone "feel" this sensation? Perhaps try using Henry Cottons tire drill?

Hi coach, I see that your driver is paralle to the ground when you are at top of the backswing, pls explain if you have the simliar shaft parallel position when you hit your 7 iron on full swing. Thanks

I depends on the intensity of my swing but usually I am not quite parallel with the irons.
