Really very good class on Path Loss Model for wireless system, antenna gain calculation and free space loss. For Radio Frequency Engineer or In Microwave design student this lecture is very very helpful.

indeed even 9 years later this is the best explanation I find.

@Steven Gordon Thank you very much for your perfect explanation. I have one question. Pr=(Pt.Gt.Gr.lambda^2)/(4.pi.d)^2. So if we know the minimum required Pr for successful transmission, we can adjust our Pt to achieve that minimum required Pr. However in this equation we are considering only pathloss. If the receiver is experience noise and interference, then do we have to increase our Pt even more to be able to achieve the required SINR. In other words is the following formula correct for the cases where we have interference and noise on the receiver side ---> Pr=(Pt.Gt.Gr.lambda^2)/((4.pi.d)^2 * interference Power* Noise Power)

how can be that you transmit 10W and antenna multiply by 5? is there an amplifier? in previous lesson teacher said that power is anywhere less than 10W...

It says clearly that it has 3*5dBi external antennas.... not 2dBi..... That's twice as much power!

why wavelength and distance(d) are squared?
@StevenGordonAU10 жыл бұрын
In the path loss equation, the path loss, Lp, is (4 pi d) squared divided by wavelength squared. See equation (2) and an explanation in: ict.siit.tu.ac.th/~sgordon/its323y14s1/reports/its323y14s1h11-path-loss-model.pdf
