To make this Smart Material a little more smart, use an anchor point in the "Sticker Design" layer, then use that anchor in the "Sticker Foil" mask instead of "Mask Cleanup" in a 'fill layer' and set it to multiply. Now instead of cleaning up manually the "Sticker Foil" mask will automatically update when you paint out in 'remove edges' in "Sticker Design". We can basically make this whole smart material use only one paint layer mask and make it a deterimining factor of the amount of other layer masks using anchoring. But we would be losing that hand painted touch to certain degree then.

ONE OF THE BEST SMART MATERIAL I HAVE EVER SEEN . THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING ALL OF US ....
@schololo-blog87622 жыл бұрын
what I did is I've set sticker with planar projection made anchor point, and referenced anchor point to smart material mask and clicked 'extract alpha' and I don't need to place sticker in photoshop which is extra step. Usually when I do things in photoshop I slide back and forth between Photoshop and SP tweaking the position. And also I'm painting on the glue mask and anchor points are masking upper layers automatically

Thank you a lot! I tried to make the same material by myself but I was confused with one mask. After research your SPP file I fixed that issue ) But I made it a little bit more convenient - just use projection for labels (put alpha mask on "sticker creator" folder and a texture on sticker design layer). It's strange but I haven't found another videos / articles about this technic, you made a really good gift for many people

Cool tut Tiedie, thanks! Only one question. For some reason, I loose the white stroke when applying the files. How did you set the files when importing? The mask as an Alpha and the albedo as a Texture, right? To be honest, I´m not sure if that is the reason. Just trying to find the error :(
@tiedie3 жыл бұрын
Hmm, you should be able to add the alpha to a fill layer in opacity, and the color in as a separate texture. Ad Ling as your scene is set up for opacity it should be good to go

Thanks for that quick reply @@tiedie Do you mean I should have created a file in a PBR Metalic Roughness Alpha-blend template? Because I didn´t X_x

Looks good. Just a thought ... Could you not have the whole thing in a folder with a transform filter, that way you can skip the positioning in photoshop and have a full sized texture and just move it around and scale it on the UV live in substance instead?
@tiedie3 жыл бұрын
Yea that would probably work much better. Gotten some good suggestions on this, I'll have to revisit it at some point

Cool video, thanks! Hey, is it possible to export just the sticker to use with a layered shader in Blender/Maya/etc? Would you just turn the Painted Metal material off and then export with an alpha on the base color?
