I suppose the sayin is true, " One man's junk is another man's treasure ". It's truly unbelieveable what valuable discarded items you will find on trash piles. Great find. Be Safe, and God Bless! Zack, that is a mechanics dream find! Congrats. on the find. The tools look as though they were well taken care of.

Zach, the guage is for Spark plugs, there is a tool on the side of it to change the gap on the plug, also the one tool with stairated sides is a conduit holder you pound it into a stud and it holds conduit in place.

I still have part of a set of Thorsen sockets I bought in 1989. The rest of them were stolen, but they are very good tools, especially compared to today's Chinesium stuff. Ditto for the old Craftsman stuff. That crimping tool in the case is probably for Ethernet connectors, for computer wired internet connections. They're not used much any more, because you can buy cables pre-made for next to nothing. I used to do internet and phone cabling, years ago, and still have my old RJ45 Ethernet crimper, although I haven't used it in probably at least 20 years. That's a great score, especially the Craftsman 12*point sockets.

You might check the value out of the comic books, especially the Superman one. It might have some collector value. Very nice haul and interesting to me as I am downsizing and have tools I am not sure what I want to do with yet. It is just getting too much for me at my age to keep such a large collection. On the other hand, the minute I sell or give them away, I will have a use for one or more of them.

That's an excellent find. Anything marked "MADE IN USA" is better than today's Craftsman. I don't believe Craftsman Tools are USA made today. May even been made with lighter cheaper material. That may be why your newer set feels different. I'd try a rebuild kit for anything marked "MADE IN USA" and except a replacement as a last option. Either way you are ahead.

That's the difference between being up north and being down south, like I am. Down here we keep everything! You will never find that on the side of a road. It might get given away to a relative who needs a hand or a neighbor who helped you but never given away for free. It is not unusual to see 2 or 3 old cars parked off to the side of the house "just in case". We are different down here!
