Wow!! I am so happy to have had this video pop up on my KZbin. I have a strong interest in the Fibonacci Spiral, from an artistic, a scientific, and a mathematical, standpoint. It would be so amazing for me to present to my daughter and her husband a quilt with the this pattern, as they are both mathematicians. Oh, also, I am a quilter!! Thank you, thank you, so much for your detailed description of how to do this.!

As a floral designer, the fibonacci spiral and sequence plays out heavily in design. Thanks for this new presentation!! I have found almost all rules of design, i.e., color, contrast, form, style, proportion, etc, are the same in quilting. It's been an easy transition for me.

@@bitspiecesquilting to make it wider and longer could i just make more of the blocks? I'd love this to cover a bed
@bitspiecesquilting
@bitspiecesquilting Жыл бұрын
Hi Lisa - the challenge with this one is another math problem. Because some rows are horizontal and some are vertical, you need to find a combination that works for both dimensions. The blocks finish in the quilt at 5x8 inches, so the challenge is to find a multiple of both numbers. In the pattern, 8 blocks laid vertically (5 inches wide x 8 blocks = 40 inches) works with 5 blocks laid horizontally (8 inches wide x 5 blocks = 40). It doesn't work if you just add a few more blocks to each row - you need to get the math right. I think the next multiples that will work would be to actually double the whole thing so you have 16 blocks in vertical rows (80 inches) and 10 blocks in the horizontal rows (80 inches). You can add as many rows as you would like to make the quilt as long as you would like. Hope that makes sense...
