There’s a couple of houses in my village (Cotswolds) who use spring water and are not connected to the mains. A couple have bought a house up the road from me and have had a borehole put in rather then have mains water. We now know where we are going when the mains water goes off, which is does it bit too often for comfort. Mains water didn’t come to the village until 1955, prior to that everyone used well water, most cottages either had their own well or shared with neighbours.

I used to work for a Garden center they put a borehole for watering plants and doing the toilet water. So a borehole at Gloagburn might be worth it just for non essential water. 😊

We have 2 boreholes on our farm is set up so the pump down the well feeds a 20,000ltr water tank then a pump off the bottom of the tank to pressure the system with a 200ltr pressure vessel Saves the pump down the well as it come on when 3/4 full to refill and gives you a reserve.

Hi Crawford I went to do a job at a house a few years ago they had a bore hole , unfortunately the water wasn’t up to regs a company came in and fitted a filter system and it was all sorted for human consumption hope this helps

We had to go to 500ft with our well...but great comfort with it. Mains pressure was pathetic and stressfull for man and beast. Cost was around 14k euro for everything .

You need to insulate the blue mdpe Crawford. It gets brittle under sunlight over a period of time. Can't handle the uvs. 👍

@ it is only a 8ltr vessel and water is only 1 3rd of the 8 ltr so 2.6 ltr the other 2 3rds is air. So the pump will knock on when 2 ltrs of water is used! We are probably just to far away from you but I work for a private water company doing borehole and spring systems

5:59 hard on power u will find be better with a header tank with a high low off on switch so ur pumps not on for every single cow.

Hi Crawford before you go buying a new wiper motor for the jcb and I now this is going to sound silly but have you checked if the nut hold the wiper arm to the stud going motor is tight. I only ask because we have similar handler to yours and thought the motor had gone but it was the nut that was lose.

It's a small pressure vessel. The pump will start and stop quite often. I know your driller gives you that but did he know how much water it will go through? This was the beginning for me to follow you Crawford when I saw the Swedish borehole company. Do you know why he expanded to Scotland?
