Looks like a great piece of kit and great cup of coffee. Also, thanks for the reminder that the snow will be gone eventually 😊

Looks like a fine addition to a fine addiction, Mark! 😉 I would think that the ultimate solution for year-round outdoor use would be a stainless or titanium single-walled cup with a cozy. It can be equally maddening to either wait for your coffee to cool in warm weather, or to have it cool too quickly in colder weather. Thanks for the review! 👍🙏👊✌️

I have suggested to the company something along those lines, including maybe making the brewer from titanium or even aluminum to reduce weight. Thanks for commenting

Pretty interesting. It would be nice to see a reusable metal filter.

Thank you for another great demo, Mark. The company might want to partner with GSI and Yeti to offer options of the brewer excluding the glass mug, with and without either steel mug added to the package for those who don't already have a compatible mug.

The company did tell me they are working to create their own mug. I would like to see something lighter in weight but still double-wall. Titanium maybe? Thanks for commenting

@MarkYoungBushcraft yes, I agree that titanium would be a good choice, Mark. It will be nice if they offer options for different mugs at various prices, along with the filter without any mug at a lower price.

Just stumbled across your channel mark, coffee in the backcountry is as good as it gets. Checkout the Hario series of handgrinders. A bit of extra wait but the ceramic burr doesnt heat up the oil. A bit of a hassle to pack but itll change your life. Appreciate the gear demonstration! 🎉

Right on. Actually, I have two Hario grinders. I do like that they have ceramic burrs. I have a few other grinders as well. A couple I have reviewed. Thanks for commenting

This is a very interesting product and something that I would be interested in getting. One question where do you get replacement paper filters? Do you order them from the company itself or is there another option. Thanks for sharing!

I just went to the website and seen that indeed you can buy packs of 100 filters on their website. And the fact that it is a Canadian company is even better! I honestly thought it was another Chinese product. I guess it still could be made in China. But I have lots in my Kit from China I just prefer North American products. Great find Mark!

Because the GSI cup isn’t double walled, couldn’t you put the filter and water into the cup and boil the water, then finish the process eliminating having to bring an additional separate pot to boil the water? ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️ PS: Definitely make a cosy for the GSI cup.
@MarkYoungBushcraft

I was just thinking this through. If I boil the water in the GSI cup, I would then have to pour that water into the brewer and very quickly set the brewer in the cup... Definitely a cozy for the GSI cup. Thanks for commenting

@@MarkYoungBushcraft You could lower the brewer into the boiled water, slowly enough that the boiled water comes up through the filter and coffee and doesn't get pushed up and out of the cup. Then let it steep, lift and drain. PS Looking at the drain ring it appears you could screw it between the filter ring and the body of the brewer so it is solidly in place for doing a pour over.
@MarkYoungBushcraft
@MarkYoungBushcraft Күн бұрын
@@mvneighbor4380 I had considered that method but the reverse passage of water into the dry coffee would be quite slow and inefficient. It might work but I don't see it as worthwhile. I checked and the drain ring does not fit between the main body of the brewer and the screw on filter holder. Thanks

I did this yesterday with a steel filter that fits in my cup. The water comes up into the filter quickly, the grounds float on top, you stir then in with a spoon, and let steep. Then you lift the filter out and take the used grounds home in it to clean out.

Never buy something that has proprietary consumables. You’ll have no choice where to buy filters, and if they ever stop, you bought some garbage. Unless you want to go to the effort of carefully cutting them for every cup

You are right on Jim. So, I have started experimenting with alternative filters like metal and cloth. Also looking for alternative paper filters. Thanks for commenting
