On top of the regulator knob there is a black sticker , remove it and there is an allen screw , if you adjust screw counter clockwise it will control heat at lower settings . I had problems when I first bought it and same day I messed around to see if can regulate the amount of gas . And it worked.

@jdd6447 thank you for this comment. I have been trying g to figure this out for several years. Asked myself today why am I still using this crap. Decided to give youtube one more look around before I tossed it. Adjusted, as you said, and it is now actually working as intended. That little thing was the cause of my frustration all these years.

I just started using this grill. I found you have to clean that grate off to let the proper amount of heat through and to remove the char to prevent smoke build up. I'm thinking of just laying a cast iron grate on top that fits. Thanks for the vid. I haven't noted the temps, but maybe the senor rod needs a little cleaning if there is too much build up.

Good review I have had mine going on 5 years this year and still works good. The main thing I found is keep them clean. I have gotten a couple of bad fuel cans so I did as you and bought the hose kit to use a 20lb cylinder. I just bought a new 4 burner infrared grill to try out. Hope it works as good as the small one.

I don't know much about Char Broil, but I do love my Char-Griller, a different brand. Although my propane device is a griddle instead of a grill. For a grill I think charcoal would be better though. I have a Char-Griller grill and a Char-Griller griddle and I love them both anyway.

Oh well. Mine works great in high wind. Sorry yours doesn’t. Won’t argue that it should work out of the box, but that goes back to neg comment about customer service. For the price I got mine for, $10 more wasn’t that bad. I take mine to the car wash and spray it off there every so often. No mess at my house. After I clean it I heat it back up and season it. I haven’t had much of a rust problem yet. Again, I wish you had better luck with yours. I enjoy mine now that I got it working right.

@@FreeAmericanSpirit well for about $232 for everything I need, case and tank adapter (you probably had a bad regulator) it's sitting in my Amazon cart and I'll be giving it a go eventually. I've found other reviewers, 1 year reviews and other count month reviews, that seem fairly positive. I'd like to use this once every two or three days, so I expect to get lots of use out of it. If I have the same terrible experience, so be it, the thing is cheap and another portable grill will likely fit in the case.

I have another Charbroil portable. Same problem with "one temp"......HOT! I had a similar problem with the burner not coming up all the way. Called Charbroil. Tech told me to only open valve on my LP bottle VERY slowly as it lights, then, once it lights, open it fully. That did solve the problem. I'm very disappointed to hear about their lousy customer service now. These companies don't understand how important that is nowadays. There is just soooo much Chinese crap on the market. Charbroil's problem is that they are located in Columbus, GA. I live in GA and the quality of the work force is pretty deplorable!!!!

Loved the video and thank you for posting. I just bought mine but have ready many reviews. I looked at several more and less expensive grills. The known issue with this grill is the regulator. Right out of the box my regulator was all or nothing. So I have now ordered a Mr Heat regulator from Amazon it was 15.00. I am told that Char-Broil will replace regulator but you will most likely have the same issues that you are having. Char-Broil like many companies cut cost by having parts and products manufactured over seas (Chian). If the regulator I have ordered fixes the issue, I will be extremely happy with this grill for the money. If not it goes back to Lowes. I plan to use it tent and teardrop camper camping. I needed something that is small and very portable.

Change out your grate. I fell for the infrared marketing this portable grill had several years ago...and for several years I rarely used it. It was always so hot...it's great for searing a steak, but that's it. Cleanup is a pain. Today, I replaced the stainless infrared grate with brand named "Grillgrate" grates (Google them). I had to cut them for a custom fit, but the hamburgers I made were awesome and it seems that the temperature is more forgiving and adjustable...temp maxxed out at 650, which is about 100 less than before, but still provides a great sear. I probably won't use the X200 again this year, as I have Grillgrates on my full size BBQ already, but next year, I will likely use the X200 for tailgating/camping more often than ever.

I had a Weber grill. Worked fine but was a major pain to clean And replacing burners was even worse. Bought a small Char Broil grill. Much lighter than a Weber but it has held up well. And cleaning it is a breeze. Ditto for changing burners, thanks to cotter pints instead of screws that rust and freeze in place like on the Weber.

Found this on a web search on grills not getting hot enough. Do I need a gas regulator? Every gas grill has a gas regulator to regulate the flow of gas to the appliance. If your gas grill isn't working - as in not getting hot enough or not heating up at all - this may be due to a regulator issue. In which case, you will need to replace (not repair) your gas grill regulator.Jun 17, 2017

@nla3654
@nla3654 3 жыл бұрын
Can’t argue the customer service. As far as the fire blowing out, you can pull the drip pan out and put it in the other way. That will block the wind. A 1/8” ball valve for 10 bucks will take care of the pit getting too hot. As far as complaints about it being hard to clean, a car wash every now and again will do miracles on it. With that being said, I give the grill all thumbs up. I love it.
@FreeAmericanSpirit
@FreeAmericanSpirit 3 жыл бұрын
I've tried drip pan both ways.. dosent work. Why should I have to buy a ball valve? the thing should work out if the box. I have a pressure washer (like a car wash) why would I want to blow nasty grease all over? Plus that does not stop the cheap grate from rusting. The cheap grate us to thin and rusts out fast.

Your better off getting a Weber Q 1200 or Q 2200 much better quality and performance for a little bit more money . You think Char Broil is bad about customer service , try Char Griller and waiting over 30 days to have the grill delivered . 😂 You might want to check the gas tube and make sure it isn't clogged up with grease or charred bits . Brush it off and check the little holes to make sure they are open and the flame is burning blue , good luck to you , Buddy and Happy Grilling !

I enjoyed watching your video! I got one of these used (practically new) for very cheap and it's the grill I'll be using for now. I have cooked steak twice now, the second time being top sirloin. I noticed that I can't go by normal grill times using this grill. Most grills require about 4 minutes each side to grill a 1 inch steak medium rare-medium. I grilled my steak today and did three minutes per side and still came out medium when I'm more of a medium rare-rare steak guy. I want to turn the heat on low next time and try to cook the steaks longer. I am using this grill in a screened in back porch so I'm not too concerned about the wind knocking the flame out. Overall I've enjoyed it for now!

Hahaha that is funny. Marcus my friend how are you. See you learned about the majic of silver water...
