So I have one and just replaced my grill grates and deff recommend this grill to anyone. This grill is the best grill for any novice or first time grill owner. Absolutely no flame ups and holds perfect temps all the way across the grill

i have the same grill. dont grill as much as you do , but i do use it. went through a 20 lb bottle of gas the other day so that tells you how much i grill on it in the last three years (had mine about the same time as you have , it appears.) i love the infrared feature, if i want the charcoal flavor i just spritz what i'm cooking with a little liquid smoke. hickory or pecan. i also have a cover. its like keeping your prized car or truck in a garage . extends the life of the grill immensely. best thing about the grill is, no flare-ups! i will sear the meat on what ever temp to get a good char and then turn up the flame down to the lowest setting or just a little higher. the grill is so efficient that that's all the heat you need. ( for most meats). grill is holding up well. the only thing that has quit working is the igniter. handy, but just use a long grill lighter and no problems. i would recommend, if you like to grill to give this line of infrared grills a try. using this grill is just like using a new grill you have to learn how to cook on that particular grill. once you get used to it you will love it.

@@Housebarons you had a great point about the grates wearing out too quickly. Fortunately those are available on Amazon for a good price. And I’m willing to pay a small amount every other year to replace them vs the HUGE cost of a premium brand grill because I get the SAME performance for so much less overall cost.

We recently bought a house that had a CharBroil grill hooked up to the house natural gas line, a definite plus. The grill is in decent shape but I replaced the infrared plates and the cooking grates. The main drawback with the infrared grill is the inordinate amount of smoke it produces which can often be irritating to the eyes and throat. I've been happy with the Weber grills I've had in the past and if I had a chance to unload the Charabroil I would

I"ve owned the same grill for over 5 years, rust has finally got to the box. Really due to me forgetting to cover it this winter. I've replaced the grates and infared grates once. Otherwise it's held up pretty well. I don't think I can go back to a non infared grill after owning this one. I can't bring myself to pay $2700 for a infared weber grill. Probably just get a charbroil again, really happy with it. Only a few times did I wish it was a little bigger.
@Housebarons Жыл бұрын
Hey dela.., Agreed. Charbroil last IF you can keep them dry. We’ve learned the hard way as well. The burners and grates are too easy to replace. Not difficult to keep them functioning well. BTW - I was able to find a 4 burner charbroil for $40 at a moving sale. So keep an eye out. There are deals when people are moving!
@abrahamnehemias-xt2qd Жыл бұрын
Charbroil sells the firebox individually if you want to try and replace that
@delacruztaylor Жыл бұрын
@@abrahamnehemias-xt2qd I saw that for $90.00, but I didn't want to have to mess with wiring/burners etc. I went out and bought a Napolean prestige. So far it's worth the extra money. But there are days I miss the old infared. Infared never flamed up, this one does. But the Napolean gets hotter 10 times quicker and can reach some insane temps. If charbroil would make a a model that didn't rust, I wouldn't think twice. Infared also wasn't as messy with grease. Either grill I'd highly recommend.

Hi, just watched this in July 2022 - great to see a down to earth long term review of the grill that I have just bought second hand :-) I am totally with you on wondering why people just throw these grills away or sell them for really cheap, when you can just replace the grates for a fraction of a cost of a new grill !!

I purchased mine 1/1/2014. I use it almost every day. My rough estimate is 290 days a year. Just a few days ago, a valve failed. It looks a bit rough but still runs. I converted mine to natural gas. There has been several occasions I left it running over night and all the grates are still intact. I live in the southwest desert so rust is not a problem for me. I am debating whether to replace the valve (if they even still make it for an old model). or starting new....New is shiny....

Hi, thanks very much for putting up this video. Great to see a 3 year review. Can I ask, in your opinion, why the grill plates that you replaced, rusted. Do you think it was through not cleaning correctly or maybe cleaning to vigorously with the wrong tools? Just trying to see if there is a way to avoid this, before buying one. Thanks very much
@Housebarons3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian, good question! Char Broil actually provides a scraper tool to clean the infrared cooking grates. It works really well. Regarding the grill grates that I had to replace, here are 3 tips from Char Broil: 1) Water will destroy iron grates, so keep the grill covered when not in use. 2) After grilling, saturate the grates with vegetable oil to prevent rust. 3) Soak the grates at least once a year in a mix of vinegar and baking soda to give them a deep clean. Do this more often for better results. Hope this helps, thanks for your question!

I really hate mine. The temp gauges broke within the first year. I never know how high the temperature really is. It is impossible for me to remove the greasiness from but I have no rust problem (I do keep it in the garage and cover it). The selves are warped and the burner has never been used so I am unsure how it has bent itself. The grates are impossible to clean thoroughly. Our grill did not come with the bars that this gentleman has but those would of been awesome to have had to keep the grates' holes clear. We also have one side that the gas will not light on. Overall I would never buy it again. We have had our grill over 5 years and I have hated every minute of it. But at the time we knew nothing about grills and it was being raved about so we bought it. Once it dies I am going to be looking for a new grill - any recommendations send my way!

Did that happen to the cooking grills because of the cold temps outside or was it because of a lot of use? That makes a difference.

Hi Charmaine, Char Broil says that moisture is the number one reason for iron failure. I probably wasn't diligent enough to put the grill cover back on, especially during warm months because I grill so often. It rains a lot where we are, so if I had covered the grill always during these past 3 years, the grates might have fared better. Thanks for your question, hope this helps!

There is smoke but no flare ups. The surface of the infrared emitter is prob 800-900 degrees so fat bursts into a smokey cloud of steam. My experience has been much more consistent grilling results, excellent grill marks, amazingly simple clean up.

Good grill for rare/med rare cooking… if you want more well done or crispy… the putrid smell from the burning fat/juices will be infused into the meat from the infrared grates not allowing drippage away from the meats… so all depends in your doneness preference… oh and YES they smoke like CRAZY… but no flare ups … im changing mine to traditional gas after this summer… 😎my “infrared” experimenting is OVER

A lot of rust in that thin metal fire box after just three years, another three and it will definitely be rusted out. Finally replaced my Weber Spirit 310 after 13 years. The fire box was still in excellent shape because it’s cast aluminum but the steel body finely gave out because of grilling through the brutal Minnesota winters.No such thing as grilling season for a Weber grill.

Hi Sharpthings Inspace, interesting channel name, thanks for letting us know about your great experience with Weber. My brother, Dave, put me onto Char-Broil because of the Infrared feature. I love the way the Char Broil grill cooks food. Never burns, always cooked evenly. If my grill lasts another 3 years I will be pleased to have spent about $600 for 6 years of use. However, since Weber uses cast aluminum for the firebox, that does sound appealing. Thanks much for posting your comments!
