Nice catch! Question: on a road that has two or more railroad crossings, how can you tell which one is crossing #1 or crossing #2, etc?

Thanks! There isn't a defined system, so you can do whatever works for you the best. The way I prefer to do it is typically assigning the numbers in the order of east-west or south-north, though Decatur's an exception to that rule (it gets numbered west-east).
