Exactly the explanation I needed on this exact tool, thanks mister! "world class teacher", I agree @Bruce Williams.

what is the reason for using nurbs curves. especially in a way like it shown in the video?

I checked the result of the surface created by this tool in the ziess inspection software. There was about 6 mm difference in accuracy between actual stl file and the the surface created by this tool. Is there any tool in freecad which could generate accurate surface on stl file?

Good work.Create sometimes something people would build like backhoes gearboxes,hydraulic cylinders

Could you make a video on the other way around, I mean, how to create better meshes, specially for 3d printing

Nice to hear from you! I have that covered in the first three minutes of this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iau4lquwpL9rrtU If I can help further let me know

Thank you for your videos. But please let me know how you can achieve how you work with objects in 123 Design in the freecad? I don't think freecad can do what 123 Design can do.
@JokoEngineeringhelp3 жыл бұрын
I have not used 123 design in depth. If you need to import export objects to different platforms, step and stl formats are common formats to open and edit in FreeCAD. What don't you think FreeCAD can do that 123 design can?
@kumu20243 жыл бұрын
@@JokoEngineeringhelp I didn't mean export or import. The way 123Design works with parts. Interactive way to move, shape , extrude , cut ..etc 3d shapes .. In freecad there is no way to move the parts using just the mouse .. aligning parts like in 123Design. Everything must be calculated by hand .. Most of the time, freecad is based on the 2d drawing that produces 3d Shapes.. Am I wrong?
@JokoEngineeringhelp3 жыл бұрын
@@kumu2024 So you can move and orient bodies in Freecad by double clicking in the tree and moving it with the triad which also can orient the part on the 3 axes too. The A2+ workbench among others allows for concentric, parallel, coincident etc alignment between parts if you want more precise alignment in an assembly. If 123 design is a direct modeler like what I think you're describing then FreeCAD and 123 Design would be meant for completely different purposes. Blender or Design spark would be more similar because they are not parametric modelers.
@kumu20243 жыл бұрын
@@JokoEngineeringhelp Thanks. I wasn't aware of Design spark, never heard about it. I do 3d design as hobby and for my 3d Printer . Do you know if there is any plugin for freecad that can be used in the way Design spark, 123 Design works? There are also Wings 3D .. but I personally don't like it as it is not fully interactive either as 123 Design. 123 Design is not free for commercial, and it is crashing, having limitations that is why I look for a better. I don't like to depend on a software that is not fully Open source and not possible to use in commercial product. It is a waste of time to learn a software that you never be able to use it commercially.
@JokoEngineeringhelp3 жыл бұрын
@@kumu2024 I'm currently not aware of anything that enables a direct modeling approach into FreeCAD. Design spark isn't open source but it looks like it's free to use commercially designspark.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360013398038-DesignSpark-for-commercial-use You never know if there will be a terms and conditions change in the future like what happened with Fusion 360 but Design Spark really is a good software. Blender might be your best bet for an open source direct modeler that I know of, but I stick with parametric modeling so I'm not up on every direct modeler out there.

I strongly disagree with your assessment that these tools are 'world class'. They are anything but world class. It's crazy to me that you can't move spline vertices around after placing them, and the inability to do so makes these tools all but useless.

And at the end of it do a geometry check and see it failing.
@JokoEngineeringhelp2 жыл бұрын
Which tool did you use to check?
@mrechbreger2 жыл бұрын
@@JokoEngineeringhelp Geometry checker in the parts workbench. There's some inconsistency within freecad that can cause issues.
