@thefreedriver895 жыл бұрын
As far as it concerns safety during training, it is important that you have at least one spotter always looking after you while you are under water. Most of the divers in this video are actually in competition, so they are trying to get their best performance with the stress of the competition. Moreover, dynamic apnea is the freediving discipline characterized by the highest number of blackouts, because it's very easy to go beyond your limits and swim those extra 5 meters which will make you go BO. Anyway, a blackout remains a not common thing, especially when training, so, as far as you have a spotter, you're always good to go.
@salviatrip70835 жыл бұрын
valerio.l105 I see. Maybe i can just bring a friend to always watch me. The life guards are pretty strict there about holding your breath, but maybe will not care if my friend watches me so they don't do the work if anything. But i do apnea walks most of the time, and seem to be okay so far
@thefreedriver895 жыл бұрын
Pools' life guards always tend to complain about holding your breath underwater in the swimming pool; most of the times they won't let you do that. Plus, you cannot count on the life guard as a spotter: you always need someone whose attention is 100% focused on you all the time. If you find a swimming pool where life guards are cool about freediving and you have a training buddy or simply a spotter, you're good:)
@salviatrip70835 жыл бұрын

To add on this, usually when u start to have CO2 build up (the urge to breath) you still have plenty of oxygen in your body to keep going. To give you a ballpark number you could well be at half of your reserve, which means you could stay under water for double of the time. Divers train resistance to CO2 build up in the body to be able to dive comfortably for longer
@yd81043 жыл бұрын
@@sephusx In those cases, assuming they were in good shape, good sleep etc. Does it mean that they have resisted the CO2 build up for so long that the oxygen level have reached the low point where the brain goes into no fail mode? If that's true, how is it possible to become better? Maybe that's why they say it takes years of training to become a top performer, because your body have to adapt by lowering the heart rate even more and expanding lung capacity to bring more oxygen from the start?
@Racingirl9113 жыл бұрын
I am fascinated with free diving, and I have a question. But first, I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on this subject. It looks as though the people who are in the water with the diver have to wait until they are told to go ahead and help the diver. Is that what I’m seeing, or is there another reason why they hesitate for a few seconds before bringing the diver up?
@yd81043 жыл бұрын
I had the same question. I think it's because the diver can still recover by himself even after a loss of motor control and his performance be valid because people are allowed to push their limits. And as soon as the security guys put their hands on the diver, the performance is invalid, so they give the diver a chance to recover by himself. But when the diver's head falls back into the water it's over and that's when they help him.
@stefanoc38913 жыл бұрын
Yes is that, bc help means disqualification of the diver.

It looks like these are competitions. If you cancel the dive and resurface, you have 15 seconds or so to perform a "surface protocol", like removing your goggles, nose clip, and give the ok sign to the judges. And if everything is ok, then your performance counts. If you blackout during that period and need intervention by safety divers, your performance doesn't count. So it seems the safety divers only intervene when the divers can't recover by themself.

Bullshit. This statement can get people drowned. There are way more factors than that. I had a black out in 3/5 of my usual distance, just because I did it in the end of the training session, hadn't had enough recovery from my static hold and I did hyperventilation. Didn't even feel bad, just went to sleep. That's why you never dive/train ALONE. Never. Ever.

That’s why you’re a scuba diver😉

They are doing apnoe diving/ freediving. A black out can happen if you push past your limits which is why you shuld never push to hard

Because they want TO BE a self contained underwater breath apparatus, not use a self contained underwater breathing apparatus. Couldn’t resist.

Por que é que esses salva-vidas só podem agir depois que essa mulher autoriza? O nadador sempre mergulha a cara devolta na água e só depois é que ela diz "segula-lo". Isso é um desrespeito com o nadador.

1:49 That guy might have been severely injured by the guy in red shirt dropping his head to the floor... Whats wrong with these medics panicking? Just relax and do BTT...
@matthewsmeets4 жыл бұрын
Those weren't medics. Looks like red cross. Big difference in some countries. The guy in the red shirt probably knows more what he is doing, but yeah that was just bad of him to drop the guy like that
