ARRIVAL : TROMSÖ AIRPORT (TOS)
DEPARTURE : TROMSÖ AIRPORT (TOS)
The main activity is snorkeling /freediving with orcas and humpbacks. You can expect to be into water 2-4 times a day, we are out on the orca field all the daylight time.
We don't use tanks with the animals, they are afraid of the bubbles and will then disappear. The animals are friendly, but we never don’t touch them or feed them. It’s not necessary to have any diving license to join our orca exp. trips, and you don’t need prior training. We do snorkeling/swimming with orcas and humpbacks.
Our crew will teach you how to use the dry-suit for snorkeling. There are diving instructors onboard. The orca season is in wintertime and we use dry-suits. You can bring with your own dry-suit, but it’s possible to rent. There are dry-suits for rental in all standard sizes onboard.
USEA
USEA is the network for those who care about the respect of the comfort and the wild nature of marine mammals.
Approved by scientists working in the field of marine mammals, USEA interactions are much better than enforced encounters for both diver and marine mammal.
On board the SULA, during ORCA EXPEDITION, guided by the best specialists you will learn with USEA techniques how to come close and interact in the best conditions with orcas and large whales.
Successful USEA interaction allows you to be USEA Diver, registered in the network with an unique number. You will have your own Certification.
Our captain Olav Strömsholm and the USEA Leader Pierre ROBERT de LATOUR are well experienced to come close to the animals, and Pierre is perhaps the most experienced free-diver in the world to be into water with the orcas with more than 5000 encounters.
WHO CAN DO THAT?
It's not necessary to have a certification for snorkeling with the animals.
We use dry-suits and it’s opportunity to rent complete diving equipment from us.
However, if you don't have experience with snorkeling we give you lessons when you are onboard and also using of dry-suits.
HOW WE OPERATE?
We are at your service in realizing this expedition.
When we are into the water with the animals we don't use bottles.
How many times you will be into the water with the animals depends of weather and windy conditions, but you can expect from 2-4 times or even more a day if good conditions.
It's opportunity to do regulary diving in the evenings after seeking orcas. Scuba diving for well experienced divers only! Need to have 30 dives with dry suit.
All diving arrangements are included in our offer/price.
There are weights and bottles onboard. Single 12 liter 200 bar and 15 liter 200 bar.
THE ORCA TEAM
The crew onboard is well experienced dive-instructors/boat drivers, guides and chef.
Our crew speaks Scandinavian, English and French.
RENTAL OF DIVING EQUIPMENT :
You can bring with your own dry-suit and/or equipment for snorkeling/diving or it’s possible to rent.
Onboard there are dry-suits in all standard sizes.
TEMPERATURE :
October - January : Water temperature is about 4-6 degrees. Air temperature from -7 to +10 degrees C

I noticed that the orcas were moving around the divers on purpose. They had no intention of hurting them at all, they just wanted their fishies. Orcas are such intelligent, compassionate, and beautiful beings. I would be speechless for hours if I got that close to a wild, free, and happy orca. Edit: Hi everyone! I posted this comment when I was really sick with the flu and pneumonia weeks ago. I did not mean to offend anyone!! I love orcas, but, I have not studied their behavior. I am not a credible voice. Apologies if I offended those that are credible voices!

@@andrewaronson3364 orcas are the apex of the sea they are also hyper intelligent. They have been documented coming to the surface to look up at drones! They have that much awareness to know that a drone isnt just a bird but something they've probably never seen before. That being said they can spot a human almost immediately. Its pretty clear they don't see us as a source of food.

Andrew Aronson Well, they don’t eat their food alive and whole, but does that make them ruthless killers? 🤔 Are you a hunter or a fisherman by chance? Does that make you a ruthless killer? Well ... some would certainly say it does. If orcas had arms, perhaps they would shoot their prey?? 😌✌🏼♥️

I'm a big fan of these creature I know a lot about them and trust me they have not at all aggressive, in per in captivity. Because of the ability the orcas no longer have this control they are tired of staying in captivity so they attack even kill. That’s why most people are afraid of them when on the contrary they should not attack or kill them and try to send a message that they are tired the orcas are very intelligent ! in the world’s oceans they have no predators ( accept humans of course ) without them the ecosystems would be a disaster and unfortunately the orcas will disappear if we do not act. The orcas at all of the SeaWorld parks and MarineLand Antibes will be the last generation of orcas there unless the NOAA deems a rescue unreleasable.

@@mcicalese58 you cant just release them into the wild, most were born in captivity so they dont even know how to survive in the wild, in the wild there are bacteriasthat the ordas arent used to which can kill them( for that see keiko the whale who played free willy) he died yes while he was free but he died lonely, he never integrated himself into a pod , he was seen more iften then nit near boats and humans, and if i remember correctly also let people swim and play with him. This behaviour is dangerous and could get the whales killed ,like stuck in a fishnet because they are so used to humans that they dont even knwo that thereare things nearby that is dangerous for them.

You think this should be avaliable to everyone? So then the orcas are chased around by boats all day all trying to get closest so they can get their group in first to be able to charge more money? Absolutely not. They deserve peace and quiet. Let's leave it to the professionals like this that know what they're doing and do it in the least invasive way possible. I was on a boat trip once when we saw dolphins. Our bpat went right up to them and the next thing you know boats came from everywhere surrounding them all with screaming people on board. Some honking the horns to alert other boats in their company that they'd found dolphins. The dolphins had no way to swim as we had literally enclosed them in. They looked scared...... they then had to dive deep to get away from us and all the boats then followed. Horrible day and I stood there crying begging our tour guide to stop the madness. It wasn't right. I do not want this for the orcas too.

The resident orcas here only eat salmon they aren't mammal hunters. The transient orcas do hunt seals and other marine mammals... But even these orca have never attacked people either. Orca just don't attack people it's just something every population in the world seems to do.

@@kristianxoto ,It's like people don't realize that Orcas are wild animals, and as such, can be very unpredictable.Just because there aren't widespread accounts of Orcas targeting humans that doesn't mean a hungry male Orca won't take a bite out of this odd seal-looking creature floating in the water. The Hipocracy by some of these commenters is ridiculous, the same people screaming about Sea World would harass wild Orcas by chasing after them and getting in the water while they are trying to feed.If you do the math, these people are charging approximately a half a million dollars for a weeks worth of snorkeling for twelve people, running a for-profit business at the expense of wild animals. It's damned disgusting....

My biggest dream since childhood was always work with orcas. I really love this animal. I grew up bodysurfing in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, I live in Washington state now in a city a little bit far from the ocean, so miss it so much. Oh my goodness I'm crying just by watching this video.
