@JhonnyCash-mo2wxyou don't know their whole stories...judge lest you be judged...but please, tell everyone how perfect you have been all of your life. The "violent" criminals, there was only one actually violent, one semi-violent & the others were non-violent. But steal almost a million dollars, and that's not violent, so it must be ok, too? I'd rather be around an honest murderer than a lying, manipulative thief, and that's coming from a CCO at an all men's, all security levels State Correctional facility. There's a lot of wasted life & wasted money on locking people up for extended periods of time, like the guy who was paralyzed after purse snatching. It's bad, yes. But permanent paralysis & a 40 yr prison bid? That's ridiculous! *Chomos* get less time for keeping the *kiddie ph0rn rings* (human trafficking) going & for ruining children's lives by *graping* & *m0lestin'* kids. Ok. Makes perfect sense.🙄

That officers statement about investing money in the “front end” to circumvent the need for more prisons is spot on. Also privatized prisons that want harsher sentencing for profit are another issue that definitely puts more money into confinement than programs to mitigate the causes for the eventual confinement. She wanted everyone to pity her when she had to give up the dog. I felt bad for the dog. Other women have to give up their children, who are screaming, crying, and begging for their mothers. Courtney’s case reminds me of Charlie Sheen’s character in Wall Street, Bud Fox. He was trapped by this crook, Gordon Gekko, played by Michael Douglas ❤️❤️ (THE BEST). Once greed gets a hold of you, it seems to be very difficult to get out of it. It’s like a drug. The bigger you are, the harder you fall.

I don't understand how the man in the wheelchair got 14yrs for snatching a bag and disarming a security guard. He didn't kill anyone and he was paralyzed and in a wheelchair. In my opinion that was his punishment. DeMario was defending himself so 2yrs probation wasn't bad. I'm glad he went back to school. He's going to be just fine.
@theelectricgasstation Жыл бұрын
Well, he was armed with a knife, stabbed the guard to get his gun. Maybe he even fired at the other guard that shot him. He minimized his crime and you are a suckered because you feel sorry that he is in a wheelchair.
@johnsteele664 Жыл бұрын
Maybe? That's an issue
@ThePriceIsRising Жыл бұрын
LoL. You can feel sorry for him all you want, but his actions caused him to be in a wheelchair. It is not in any way, punishment. And, you minimized his actions. He used a KNIFE to attempt to disarm a security guard. ARMED ROBBERY. Precisely why he got that sentence. He deserved the sentence he got. Its just unfortunate that we the taxpayers have to pay his way for fourteen years.

There’s something called “context” or “nuance” that greatly influences the sentences in these cases, & they’re terms that many KZbin commenters have little understanding of.

It's the element of the unknown that makes facing prison so traumatic. You just don't know if you're going to be dealing with corrupt guards, extortion, violence, sexual assault, gangs, riots or even situations that could lead to an extension of your sentence! It adds an element of psychological and emotional Torture which isn't factored into the calculation of a person's punishment. Loss of freedom and separation from family and loved ones for a given period of time is more than adequate for a person convicted of a serious crime. They shouldn't have to run the risk of additional suffering caused by unforseen aspects of the prison experience. That's not Justice in the truest sense.

40 years for snatching a purse 😮... served 14 for snatching a purse ?? And it was his 1st offense?? American sentences are insane ..... here if u snatched a purse you would get probation or 6 month prison if u had a record or a year or two if u was a habitually criminal . .and in no way could a security guard or police here legally shoot u running away. . I'm finding his 40 year sentence hard to believe
