The Turkish guy that took you into his home was a legend! I love the feeling of freedom of choice. I find it addictive and it makes me feel alive. Fellow part-time philosopher and cyclist.

Yeah, absolutely. I guess part of our struggle is also that we have very different opinions a lot of the time. I would assume that this is less of a struggle when going solo, but we lack that experience. Would be interesting to see how you feel once you are on your big journey.

The dusk and early morning scenes in this segment were beautiful. It was also very interesting to see some of 2023 Konya as I‘d been there many times between 1986 and 1993 when I was there on NATO military duties. I was even able to bring my bicycle with me on some occasions. 😊🚲

Oh wow, that must have been a very different city back in the day! We actually passed Konya in the early summer of 2022 and are already further down the road. Since editing the videos takes a lot of time, we fell behind quite a bit. Greetings from the road!

I liked your philosophic rambling. I am having similar thoughts recently. In the end we mostly regret things that we havent done, more than the ones that we did and went wrong. Its easy to get stuck with mistakes from the past (or that dont fulfill us the way we expect) because we are afraid that the new step might go wrong, so we just end in a numb life. You were very brave to do it. I am at the point of doing a bike mechanic formation (despite having studied two "proper" careers) and i hope i will be able to do the same grand adventures one day.
@AmazingWorldBikeTour
@AmazingWorldBikeTour Жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. We both studied towards certain careers and struggled to fit in. Being on the road is awesome, but has it own big set of challenges. To be fair, we pressure ourselves a lot to make the videos and social media. The traveling is exciting 95% of the time, but we spend half of our time and money for creating content, which is very hard work. So if we would do it again, certainly without all this. Tonight we will release our next video and it took us over 2 weeks of full time editing. Best of luck with your dream, but we strongly advise against doing social media.

@@AmazingWorldBikeTour @AmazingWorldBikeTour for my last bike trip (a few days in Maiorca) i did a video (only 6 minutes long). Its true that it took way more time than i expected. To do several and during a trip it might be a pain in the a**. And a big pressure too, especially if you are trying to bring a big audience to eventually get some € support. I suppose you know Ioan, the BikeWanderer, maybe you know he committed suicided, he was going through depression (due to health issue and covid lockdown) and it seems that he was feeling a lot of pressure to make content for his youtube account. I have to think if itsa good idea to make them in the future, possibly some simple stuff mostly for myself and show to the family. Do you ever consider stopp doing them? It might not be wort hit if it gets a burden and gets you from enjoying your trip.

oh yeah, Iohan! We loved that guy and his journey! He was suffering from insomnia and depression, and it hit us hard as we heard about his suicide. But doing a journey like he did for that long and alone is extremely demanding, both physically and mentally. I can imagine that! We’re doing this together, so we push each other and cheer each other up, that helps! The videos are a hard creational process, true… but we are also loving the idea of having documented our journey and sharing it with others. It feels amazing when people we don’t know from all over the world watch our journey, get inspired by it etc… And I truly believe that nothing great is easy :)) it’s like the view after a heavy climb. We want to make a full documentary afterwards, so we will continue filming and sharing! :) If we would restart the journey I might also consider writing a book + photography, instead of filming, as it’s also a nice way of storytelling and takes less film editing and much less time🙂

@johnrobertd748 It is an MSR Elixir 3. It served us well so far. We had 3 tentpoles broken, but 1 time it was clearly our fault. Then we also some very extreme wind situations. We would buy it again.
