"Causing gross offense" is perfectly legal in the US. In Europe and the UK, on the other hand, numerous, numerous people have been fined for "hate speech."

Hi, this was really nice but in 1:36 i almost had a heart attack because of this sound, i thought another shooting is happening in here which happened for about 2 times this year and i panic and said to my brother that i heard a gun shoot. Then he told me that i'm on my earphones and maybe i heard it here so yeah. I just hope hate and greedyness will not prevail. Let's hope for a better tomorrow for what happening today. And have that peace and love that we all should have.

I think FULLFISH just contradicted himself. He is insinuating that we don't have true "freedom of speech" yet he is exercising it here. And although I or many would not agree with him, we would not ban him from expressing his views. In fact, just because I disagree with him, I would not dream of blocking him, calling him an idiot, banning him or assaulting him. And that's the beauty of the "democractic" right to "free speech." Having said that, we must be careful not to offend others religious, culturally, historically or in any other way. We can, however, exercise FREE SPEECH to present fresh ideas on things. I could be pro-gay, or anti-gay, pro-abortion or anti-abortion, pro or against animal rights, the eating of dog meat, marriage before the age of "16" or any other controversial issue. What I don't have the right to do is attack anyone for it. I should have, however, the right to write about my stance on it, disseminate my views via radio or TV, or via clubs or gatherings. Those who oppose my ideas have several avenues to deal with me: 1. Write me about it and say why I am wrong. 2. Confront me on a talk show. 3. Start their own journal opposing me. 4. Start a blog, club, corner on a city park, magazine, newspaper...etc. 5. Go door to door gathering signatures to start a new political party. But no one has the right to silence anyone by force, intimidation, fear or otherwise. If we were each allowed to start our own laundry-list of things we could say or not say, then here is my list. I don't want anyone to ever talk about the following in front of me. 1. I don't want anyone to speak out against GOD. 2. I don't want anyone attacking the Bible. 3. I don't want anyone to ever attack France or anything remotely related to it. 4. I don't want anyone to say s/he dislikes animals. 5. I don't want anyone to say s/he is anti-abortion. 6. I don't want anyone to speak in favor of homosexuality. 7. I don't want anyone to speak out against Japan. 8. I don't want anyone to speak out against Putin. 9. I don't want anyone to speak out against Assad. 10. I don't want anyone to speak out against America or anything remotely related to it. 11. I don't want anyone to ever speak out against the MAFIA in Italy. I just don't. 12. I don't want people to speak out against global warming. 13. I don't want anyone to speak out against any religion. 14. I dont' want anyone to speak out against homesexuals. 15. I don't want anyone to speak out against guns. 16. I don't want anyone to speak out on behalf of guns. 17. I don't want anyone to speak out against incompetent airlines. 18. I don't want anyone to speak out against deforestation. .... for a more comprehensive list of 10,000 points, please contact me. FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION IS NOW DEAD according to me. Don't dare speak out against me. I hope my point is clear.

+lukas67395 just because something is horrible does not mean we should ban a certain point off view surrounding a historical fact - however incorrect. We can't let the state decide what historical fact even if said fact is true. Filurthermore, if a state is going to ban something, it has to provide a legitimate reason based on potential harm. Up setting people's sensibilities is not a legitimate reason.

Freedom of speech isn't just for discussing the weather, and it also doesn't mean, "I should have the right to say what I want because I'm right." Speech that virtually everyone considers repugnant should be carefully protected.

irishaodhan2 the potential harm would be an expansion of such ideas which then would lead to another massacre! offending and insulting expressions would damage the inclusiveness of a nation and at the end might be one of the leading reason for a collapsing government! Since we can not abuse freedom intercourse then the same apply for this branch of basic human existing!

Is this right given? Is this right allowed? Ia this right a legal right? Does this rigbt flow from the state? Or is it something else? Is it something people have been willing to die for? Why have people been willing to die for it? Is it an enalienable right?
