In 1983 a cadre of telemark skiers from the Canadian Rockies and B.C.'s Coast Range were sponsored by the Finnish ski company Karhu to make a film in the European Alps to revitalize a form of skiing that Europe had skied away from several decades before.
Filmmaker Roger Vernon (rogervernon.com) from Canmore, AB along with writer Bart Robinson set about to make a rollicking 16mm film with skiers Brian Finnie, Allen Slade, Martyn Williams and me.
We spent a month skiing off-piste POW! in an era before back country skiing caught on in the Alps and enjoyed fresh tracks everywhere we went in Italy, France, Austria and Switzerland.
