Missingno actually fits really well as a secret boss now that I think about it -It’s something discarded, as most if not all of the Missingno index numbers belonged to scrapped Pokémon from gen 1 -Due to existing outside of the game, it has “Freedom” in that sense, sort of like a reverse Jevil -Gives you something special after battling it (though in Missingno’s case it’s duplicating one of your items instead of a special weapon/armor)

Strictly speaking, Missingno. isn't technically the result of an error. At least, not directly. It's the product of an error handler. It's what shows up if the game has to read garbage data as a Pokemon. If Missingno. wasn't there, the game would probably crash. Something about that fits really well with Missingno. as a secret boss in Deltarune.

Not even that. MissingNo (and 'M) actually trashes a good chunk of memory, to include some save ram, because it's image is a buffer overflow. Within context of the game, it may as well be an eldritch abomination. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow glitchology has been going on for awhile.

Surprisingly enough, no. Only missingno's name is the result of an error handler, the rest of it is just the game reading unrelated data as if it were pokemon data. Many other similar glitch pokemon exist, with their own unique glitch sprites, glitch names, glitch stats, and some even have glitch moves, all being unrelated game data interpreted as if it were pokemon data. Highly recommend watching MissingnoXpert's "let's glitch pokemon yellow" series if this is interesting to you, you'll have to dig through the community tab to find a link to it though. It's a bit old, but it covers a lot. If you want to learn even more, TheZZAZZGlitch's channel has a lot of cool videos about it too, I can't recommend them enough.

Its even more fitting because it only existed because they removed all of Gen 2’s pokemon from red and blue, which were planned to be in the game, but were discarded, with missingno. as the remnant And so far all of the secret bosses are based on discarded things, Ex: the joker card isn’t used in most card games, and spam mail is sent to the junk/trashed folder

with all the comparisons of missingno to the other secret bosses in this comment section, i remembered that spamton was very much kris' secret boss as they shared very similar struggles and goals, so it made me wonder... what if this was Ralsei's? A darkner who tried their hardest to serve their purpose but was not just thrown away but twisted and corrupted into this... thing. How many other darkners have been dealt this fate? Did this happen to the people of cyber city they left behind/could it happen if they had left anyone behind? can it happen to him? and, of course, most important question of all... why would lightners do this to their own creation? Ralsei doesn't seem to care all that much about the idea that lightners abandon darkworlds, to him darkners are supposed to serve lightners and that's that, even if lightners stop spending time with them, I imagine that that's fairly easy to justify in his head, but something like MissingNo would probably be a bit harder to ignore, a being of many souls, uncountable possibly, not just abandoned but their identities purposefully stripped away and their forms reduced to this horrific, glitchy mess by the lightners who created them, forgotten even by their fellow darkners.

Missigno attacks would be not centered only in your soul, but you're menu. You're box actions will constantly swap places, slowly and then in a blink of an eye while you try choosing them, not only you're actions will be altered but you're HP, every turn of yours, it will decrease and increase until you pass you're turn, and the HP wil remain where it's left. If you want befriend with him, good luck, he's an irrational glitch, the only thing you could do is try to seal him back where he came from, deep down in the code. Missigno, contrary of what can be thought, could be damaged, but when he is defeated, he'll take another of his forms regaining all of his life, when you reach his most memorable appearence, the strange-looking pokemon will use his special attack, close the game. Because of his unpredictable nature, he will not use only one attack in his turn, but two, like when you fight two monsters at the same time. I like to imagine one of his attacks being a spinning and fast pokeball that follows you, and if it touches you, one of the lightners will be trapped in it, and you'll have to: 1- Act with the pokeball trying to open it 2- Destroy it, not only killing one of you're allies, but inflicting huge damage on Missigno. The game didn't suppose to involve the death of an important character or even a hostile interaction between them, so Missigno, being part of the code of it, would suffer from a huge confusion and damage.

If im not wrong, deltarune has some kind of types like in pokemon, so this boss could use them, only atacking one of the party members, but dealing extreme damage, or use a multy target one and deal more damage in, lets say, kris, meanwhile ralsei is inmune.

I remember getting this boss… it freaked me the hell out. I still don’t think the game is working quite right, some of my recruits went missing, and there’s this one recruit… whenever I look at it, it shows some random sprite.
