This is my 2nd favorite PsVita exclusive game ever. My only real criticism is that Freedom Wars does feel unfinished since the story ends abruptly. Maybe it was because they had a sequel or update planned much like the "G" versions of Monster Hunter or the "Burst" titles from God Eater. My all time #1 favorite Vita game is Soul Sacrifice Delta, I really recommend it. It's far deeper than it looks and the story is a warped version of Arthurian legend. Comcept did have to "censor" the names to avoid "hurting religous feelings" as it seems there are people who does believe in arthurian legend. The story, themes and parallels are unchanged, but the original arthurian names are still heard in the japanese voiceover offered as dlc. The game has such detailed lore that it even got me searching for more information about arthurian legend. Takes a special kind of game to really get you interested in the vast culture it's sourcing from. I learned so much stuff as I had no idea how deep the legend of arthur and his knights went. I truly felt enriched both by the game's story and the off-game culture I absorbed. It was one of my most memorable experiences in any system. Do get Delta and not the vanilla game cuz Delta has everything the original has. Delta is basically the definitive version, much like how Duodecim Dissidia was for the original Dissidia on PSP. They improved resolution, effects, maps, more monsters, more bosses, more spells, more mechanics for everything (map interaction, spell combos, boss behaviours), more story, more everything. It's always great when a game we enjoy causes us to go out of our way to do a little more research to learn it's back story. I felt the same way when I first played the god of war games. And to be honest I was in college at the time while playing god of war 2 and I remember seeing the name of one of the gods mentioned in the game on one of the exams I was taking. I think it was Prometheus. I wish they had an exam on the Mortal Kombat mythos. I would ace that in a heartbeat. Do you still play on the PSP? Cause I'm thinking about doing some psp reviews but not sure if my subscribers would go for that. I feel like the only they they're interested in are vita reviews.

I think it would be cool to see PSP reviews. It does count as retro now and emulation for it is workable. I do still play PSP games, both on my old PSP and on the Vita whenever games are compatible. There are lots of gems in it like Coded Arms, Rengoku 2, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles, Maverick Hunter X, Power Stone Collections, DBZ Tenkaichi Tag Team Medievil Ressurection Jeanne D'arc and the Death Jr. games. Not to mention the import goodies such as Grand Knight History (the predecessor to Grand Kingdom by Vanillaware) Gundam Vs Gundam Next, Valkyria Chronicles 3 among others. So sad that sony removed Megaman Powered Up, DBZ Tenkaichi Tag Team and Phantasy Star Portable 2 from the PSN Store, all these are Vita compatible in the Japanese PSN.

I'm currently playing gow ghost of sparta on psp. Let me tell you, some parts look even better than the gow hd collection that was on the vita. I use to have a lot of games for the psp but I was stupid and sold most of them. Street fighter alpha 3 upper, maverick hunter x, powerstone collection, sega genesis collection. I'm on ebay trying to get good deals on them. haha.

This is a good review, but a lot of people overlook the sprinter control scheme. It works a lot more intuitively than the Thorn Wielder control scheme, and it helps with looking while running. They also forget to run 3/4 of the time while playing, which helps a ton in the game, basically making enemy sinners a lot less of a threat. And lastly, you didn't mention the PVP ASPECT OF THE GAME AT ALL!!! It's great and adds a ton of variety and replayability to the game! :-0

It's been a few months since I watched your review, I finally finished the game's main story, and started playing multiplayer. To be honest, it's very scarce in players right now, but I can still have some fun every now and then. That also gave me a new view on the game itself, one that disappointed me so much. I never found it easy to modify weapons, upgrade weapons and manufacture weapons to begin with, when you're talking about all of the game's mathematics and info around it, that you actually never get to know by simply playing it. I'm talking about Early Bloomers, Late Bloomers, Growth Rate, Elemental damage (and its benefits), Impact Damage (and its benefits), strategies (even if basic ones) to combine these concepts to take a weapon to its fullest, and be the strongest possible in the game. Things like what are Maintained, Inherited, Added, New weapons' mods, the percentage added by the mods' sizes (S, M, L and XL), which things can the modification actually affect, such as the weapon Power, Growth Rate and Elemental portions, the maximum elemental damages. These are all stuff that could be available for us to learn through the game itself. I can't remember of any portion of the game where these informations or concepts were even mentioned, which means I finished it without knowing anything about it really. I had to read it all up on fan forums. As much as this game is a truly amazing masterpiece, it's also very much user UNfriendly. For that reason solely, I can only give it a 6 out of 10. PS: I'm not that into JRPGs, thus forgive me if this rating is too harsh, but if this "mysterious" aspect is a common characteristic in JRPGs, I'd rather not play them anymore.

Hey hey hey! No problemo dude! It's really rare to find these kind of reviews on most games: Straighforward, Honest and Detailed and sometimes Funny. Oh, and also there's this kind of "just-chill-bro" effect while listening on your reviews. An effect that most "Mainstream" game reviewers really lack.. Also, did you know that they had to cut a very cool feature from this game in it's localization? In the japanese version, you can customize the minutia of your accessory's voice. Tone, Pitch, voice speed and even customize her responses. The game uses a text-to-voice engine for the accessories and you could have custom accessory responses to your every command. She'd also call you by name in the original. Due to the engine not being good at reading english text, it was removed altogether cuz it would be too expensive to rework the engine. The game almost didn't get localized, both it's limited budget and the text-to-voice engine making hard to work with english were factors on the team deciding to not do english voiceovers for the localization. Would be cool if they kept the accessory voice customization though I wouldn't mind having my accessory speak broken english just to complete the whole personal waifu deal. hehehe.

The trick to the story PvP and Test 7, I find, is to tag someone with your Thorn and fling yourself at them with a melee attack. The right weapon will let you hit people around the target for major damage.

I'm loving this game overall.. I just kinda hate that every cutscene you go through generates new dialogue with the characters within your environment, and I feel obligated to talk to them and try out every dialogue choice, that's almost leading me to boredom hahaha.. Another thing is the weapons upgrades, facilities and such, I accumulated so many items that I really don't know what to do.. Other than that, the game's great!

This game does suffer from being extremely repetitive. Back in its launch day, I'm sure this game must've been a blast to play, since there would be a ton of people active in the online; the co-op is the best aspect of this entire game. As a singleplayer experience, I'm not sure I could recommend this game to most people. It's only good in its first few hours.

If they make a sequel for PS4 they need to go all in on single player. Like Shawn Layden said about the importance of narrative storytelling in games is going further on PS4. We are going to see it more from first party and third party he said. Freedom Wars 2 should be a full open world with side-quests and main quests. Dialogue system needs to have options and the environment needs to be more alive with NPCs. There are so many interesting characters in this franchise that you can make it into an RPG. Exploration is ace in single player games. Look at Horizon and The Witcher III for an example. It doesn't hurt to turn this franchise into an modern action RPG since JRPGs sell in Japan and action RPGs do well in the West.

I spent like two days trying to design a character. And because you lose your work if you change name or gender, I ended up having to remake him from scratch a few times. No joke, I actually used the Vita's screenshot feature to help remember my choices. Also restarted the game once because my limbs looked waaay too long in the battle stance. (why don't more character creators ever let you walk around and view actual in game stances is beyond me) When I saw you had to design your accessory character, I was like "not this again!" but thankfully that only took a few minutes. But when all was said and done and I finally started the game I saw it was pretty bad. Mediocre shooting, mediocre sword combat, rose vine mechanic which is... completely lackluster and pointless. Not to mention a story so incredibly silly to the point where it's impossible to take any of it seriously to any degree. I played the tutorials and one mission past the tutorial and put the game down after that. At least it was only 14.99.

Playing online coop is the best way to decrease the yrs--I was getting almost 10k yrs reduction per coop match.

Main pet peeve to me was the idea of late bloomer weapons. To get this kind of weapon. You want to farm until you got a weapon with as low a base power you can find. Obviously there are no factors to determine if you reached the lowest possible base nor up the chances of finding such weapons. So just make a wild guess on whether you actually have one or not. Oh btw that weapon you've been lvlling this whole time? You've wasted time and resources on it, because its not a late bloomer weapon. Can you repurpose it? No. Its junk only to be sold for pennies as you start again on a real optimal weapon (if you can find it and know that it is). Games makes new players feel like complete idiots for not reading the full meta before starting. Its that kinda game.

Freedom Wars is a unique game, but I think Soul Sacrifice Delta is better. I'd rank it above Ragnarok Odyssey Ace, but would place it on par with Toukiden Kiwami.

I liked the game but I still haven't finish it. the game is hard, confusing,and a little frustrating at times way to much grinding for powerful weapons in this game I was hoping we did get to plan a escape or something when you get to go to that party place to hang out I thought we were planing an escape but nope just some boring dialogue and wish they would have dub it and I think this game would had been better as an anime though but anyway I enjoyed the game but im to busy, addicted, and distracted by other stuff. still haven't finish persona 4 golden either absolutely love that game.

An expanded remake, you mean? One that includes the previously cut content, as well as actually gives us the ending we've been fighting towards? I can get behind that. I, personally, would also like some more costume customization, like PSO2's layering wear system, and an easier to understand and use weapon modding and upgrade system, but just adding the story stuff would be enough to satisfy me if not. Sad that it'll never happen, though...

İ started playing it 4 days ago, the game is good but the only issues for me is that how diffucult the game starts to get i was raging so hard at code 4s last 3 mission (im code 5 now). İ still dont know how to do most of the things it just throws the guide at you ım still confused about lot of things i wish i have took a picture of the guides. There's one mission I can't remember what it was called but it was pretty difficult for me. It was the one where you had to rescue civilians from an abductor and carry them to a rescue pod or something. It was annoying because you can't attack when you're carrying them and it takes so long. But other than that, great game.

wish they made sequel or expansion, the story was left in a cliffhanger and way to many unanswered questions. what the game could use is more variety of I guess robot since they not really monster they more like robots, cause they were very little amount and you get bored of killing same one, I feel the penalty for breaking the rule was way way to little I mean a penalty would increase imprisonment for like what 100 years? you could easy get 300-500 at mere beginning of the game and in the thousands after so didn't really do much for making people not want to break the rules although I only broke like 2 or 4 during the entire game. I feel they should have added an offline pvp with more competent computers, sure you can still fight them in practice but they are a joke they only usefull to see how much damage your weapon does. other than that and maybe the annoying long waiting time to construct gear and stuff I mean come one 30 min to 1 hour waiting..... everything else in the game is awesome. never got to play a fair pvp match thought was always 1v4 or 2v4 with super lag tat I always died and got shot somehow with perfect precision from other players no idea how most likely lag causing my character to stay put on other player creen and receiving the damage, who knows

Hey, I'm not familiar with Bulgaria but if you have retro game stores over there than try them. Also Gamestop may still carry some as well if you have those over there. My best bet for you if that doesn't work is to just try ebay. Also, I wouldn't recommend meeting up with strangers on the internet to buy ps vita games. Don't know what kind of people are out there.
