I lived in Cape Town for 2 years. Its beautiful, nice and clean but the harsh winter weather, unpredictable weather and lack of opportunities made me move to Joburg and made it my home. My career grew up here and people are more friendlier in Jozi. Jozi has a vibe. I go to CPT once a year in December for vacay. It's the best time to visit.

There’s more stuff to do in Cape Town that doesn’t involve spending money - although in Joburg more people have bigger spaces to Braai so you can do that instead of going out.

The cost of buying property in Cape Town 🥵. In Joburg you can have a mansion and in Cape Town you will get a 1 bedroom flat or live so far away from everything.
@r.mariano8118

@@rjj479 and then worry about break ins for that mansion in many cases. Living in a flat with security in many parts of Cape Town is like living in a first world country.

@rjj479

@r.mariano8118 that is true and does drive up the property price. Foreigners are also buying a lot of CPT property which in their eyes is not that expensive. It is overinflated but one wonders if it will normalise. The worst thing is that in my field, salaries in CPT are a fraction of JHB so it makes more sense to stay in JHB and fly down to CPT for a few weekends a year

I've lived in Joburg all my life and go on holiday in the Western Cape (George, Knysna, Wilderness, Mossel Bay, Hartenbos, Capetown) at least twice a year. I absolutely love going to the western cape for holiday because it's just so stunningly beautiful. However, despite visiting there often, I can't find myself wanting to live there. I want to leave it purely as a vacation place. Joburg has really wonderful gems. Most people from the Western cape think Joburg is just a massive city with no nature. But there's so many parks, beautiful tree filled suburbs, and some genuinely lovely places to go hiking. But most don't know about them. I love Joburg and won't be able to move to the western cape. Maybe when I retire for the slow life. But now? No.

Interesting review, however these aren't solidifiied indicators, A few weeks in each city gives Cape Town an unbalanced edge over Johannesburg, simply because thats what touristic areas are designed for, in which Cape Town leans in towards a more European concentric feel, which is well organised, clean, neat and definitely beautiful, with the city being an attraction for several rich individuals globally to stay in, however, whisking the cream on the cake may be enjoyable till you get to the actual cake, Cape Town over time becomes repulsive to certain demographics of people, lush and beauty becomes hindered behind limited entrepreneurial opportunities, high cost of living, and an insane divide in wealth which caters to a specific 'demographic group' of people which become unfavorable to people who live below middle income, which explains the the horrific crimes with statistics that match literal warzones. Johannesburg on the other hand has alot of American elemental features, due to its insane uncontrolled growth which has led to more opportunities and a more diverse population which over time becomes more favourable to people who tend to want to increase their wealth, wealth is more balanced around the city amongst different demographics which explains why Johannesburg millionaires are almost ×3 of Cape Towns, in which several improvished areas turn into well sustained communities due to growing wealth amongst people here and people staying more long term therefore the lower income areas are relatively safer compared to Cape Towns, however, due to the city's uncontrolled growth, it has led to several repulsive features as urban decay and lack of maintenance due to businesses expanding more outwards, due to this expansion as well as a more 'balanced' wealth distribution around the city, crime is more widespread across the city which isn't favourable towards a certain class of people. Cape Town vs Johannesburg will be a forever debate as it depends on the individual, however, for me personally I prefer to visit Cape Town and stay in Johannesburg❤

Between the two cities, Cape Town is more family friendly, cleaner and has overall more to do because it caters to the vast diversity it attracts, hence the food has more variety as well. Jozi is more metropolitan and has an overall better nightlife and cultural experience. The Kota is overrated, Cape Town has the famous Gatsby and Durban has the Bunny Chow, Jozi literally combined the two and still isn't anywhere near as good as the other latter.

Your review was pretty spot on. JHB grows out of industry and business. It has natural beauty and very determinate weather thst u can set a clock to in some instances. But because its driven by industry thr majortiy of go-to attractions are man made and the pace of life can be very hurried and stressful. There are, of course, beautiful natural spots there but most people will seek out a mall regularly and maybe go to a nature spot once a month. CT is driven by lifestyle. Its just crazy beautiful, as if the nature is always there reminding u to enjoy it. The malls even tend to throw focus on natural elements. The vibe is a bit more laid back, tho it is also professional. However ironically CT people can be cliquey, and JHB people dont seem to be quite as bad. CT is also coastal, so its weather is affected by both that ans the fact that it is literally where the freezing cold atlantic meets the Indian ocean. I think at the end of the day it depends on individual preferences - what youre seeking from your destination. Durban is a bit more messy, but much warmer. Much more od a beach bum vibe. More relaxed. And the prices only get a bit cheaper in one place - the Eastern Cape. Its a poor little nugget with some nights sites and a very warm community. (and inbetween weather). Otherwise prices are quite standardised all over SA, unless u happen to go to a venue that caters exclusively to overseas clientelle or u get hussled by a creative roadside entrepreneur😅😂. So glad you havent been affected by the crime and violence here yet. But you guys generally have your heads on right, and stay away from less safe neighbourhoods unless on part of an official tour. Being alert and avoiding dangerous situations is half the battle. Stay safe and thanks for sharing !

Jhb has better weather. I was born in CT. Love it. Still see it as home. Ct can be raining at Cape Point and sweltering hot in Blouberg...lol The beautiful mountains make the weather. Johannesburg has more diversity in people. The wild animals are beautifully and easy access. CT costs less to be entertained. Its free to go tobthe beach or a hike. Jhb you need to pay to even go for a walk in a safe space. CT has the Malaysian influences you have sweet spicy and fragrant.. CT food costs more. You can compare the checkers app between different stores. But entertainment costs...you can't even park your car with out paying 😂

Those who love nature and a slower pace to life will love Cape Town. If you love a great night life and economic opportunity you would prefer Joburg. Also, the weather in Joburg is 10 times better than Cape Town. Having grown up in Cape Town and lived in Joburg, I would say Cape Town suits me more, but I can understand the love for Joburg too. I'm currently living in Kimberley, which is great for raising a family, but has nothing else to offer outside of its natural beauty. And I prefer it over both SA cities for safety reasons. Finally, having lived in Europe and the Americas, I, as a mixed race person, can safely say that racism is a worldwide issue and is not isolated to a specific city or country.

Result was predictable for tourism. On that one Cape Town wins by global standards and you never run out of things to do. It's such a natural fun place with dramatic backdrops everywhere. However, overall it's not that clear cut. Some people will say Cape Town is for vacation and Jo'burg is for living. It's something you may or may not agree with in the end, but it takes time to appreciate at least what is meant. Jo'burg has an unquantifiable homeliness to it, subjectively much better familial and other social life, more appealing culture and importantly, less stark segregation. Cape Town is naturally more romantic. Cape Town can be very rainy and windy in winter, but oddly never rains in summer. A bright winter's day in Cape Town is most sublime and a miserable one is nasty. Beyond the touristy areas, including City Bowl and Atlantic seaboard in the centre (which are very safe), greater Cape Town has a lot more serious crime, so for that alone, I think Joburg should have won on that aspect, despite people's apprehensions. The two are great cities, but definitely not like for like, so one has to go according to top priorities.

Cape Town is the holiday destination, it can win as holiday destination and if want to move to South Africa Johannesburg it is ideal and commercially booming. At the end it is about people Johannesburg wins is vibrant, you will have plenty of opportunities in terms entertainment and you will have many surrounding places to visit. The are still many places you have not visited and you would see Johannesburg is ideal, Johannesburg is closer to Mpumalanga and Limpopo the is a lot of unmatched beauty and Adventurous places.

Cape Town (CT) and Johannesburg, aka Joburg or Jozi, have many differences. CT is more beautiful, in my opinion, clean and luxurious. Johannesburg is bigger and more diverse. It reminds me of New York and Atlanta. Both cities have a variety of entertainment. Johannesburg CBD is more run down, dirty, and can be a bit dangerous. CT CBD is safe, in my opinion. There are security and public safe workers around town. I would compare CT to Miami because of the beaches and luxury environment. Have you been to Durban? I have been to SA many times and come there quite often. I get a car l throughout my stay so I can travel openly. I have traveled throughout SA to small towns such as Drakenberg, Zululand, Bloemfontein, Port Edwards, George, Port Elizabeth, and East London. It was my first time seeing your channel. I enjoyed watching others' experiences in SA. Do you have plans visiting other countries in. Africa? What made you travel to SA? Great video. Thank you for sharing.

Dope video. I have been thinking and wondering which of these 2 cities is better. I have been told that joburg feels more black and cape Town feels more European but I'll be sure to visit both and form my own opinion. Now I'm wondering what Pretoria is like. In regards to crime, yes I worry about it a lot. From the stats you show, it looks like Pretoria is safer than both of them (safety index) I also hear that joburg has a persistent air quality problem as well whereas the air in cape Town is clean

i dont really think that the comparison between the downtown's or cbds of Johannesburg and Cape Town are really fair, i say this because for starters the old money of Johannesburg which was concentrated at its orginal cbd/ downtown is pretty much a shadow of its former glory at this point since most of the continents largest establishments and the multinational companies are now based in Sandton and its neighboring suburbs or precincts like Rosebank etc etc whereas with Cape Town its downtown/cbd is pretty much in good shape and is well taken care off not to mention it's now evolving due to the developments happening and the new skyscrapers being developed there however one would argue that's because Cape Town doesnt really have it's own "Sandton" like how Durban has its "Sandton" which is Umhlanga but then again Cape Town doesnt really have much land/space to play with compared to the two cities altho Cape Town does have it's own precincts like The Silo District etc etc which rival the ones in Johannesburg, but Johannesburg lowkey still has an edge over Cape Town but than Cape Town is also catching up fast with some companies relocating from Johannesburg to Cape Town and big multinational companies like Amazon choosing to establish their African headquarters in the city, idk i guess it's up to ones personal preference 😂 and Durban is no where to be found in all of this💔

You visited Cape Town in our rainy season so a lot of showers can sweep through and there are a lot of rainy days (which we rely on to fill our dams). The other three seasons though are sunny and warm. CT winters I don't find that cold but the wet does come with its own discomfort. Summer can be very hot here. Gauteng has lovely summer thunder showers though and the highveld cold I struggle more with.

Like if you want to go to Robben Island to see President Mandela's prison cell etc. The Locals in all the respective areas would gladly open their homes to you, to give you the authentic South African experience. The problem with Cape Town tho, is that the White Minority in SA, are turning CT into an Independent Apartheid State. So you will find a vast difference in the quality of life in the Leafy Surburbs compared to the majority Coloured & Black townships that's on the outskirts of the City. The Natural Beauty & resources of the City is still enjoyed almost exclusively by the rich white minority, while the Non-White majority of CT, still live in squalor
