Your Airbnb experience reminds me of an experience I had in Gisenyi at a similar setting in December 2019 just before covid closed my country. The experience of their lethargic and slowness sank our spirit. I mean that place was a bit dirty though it looked clean and groomed from outside. Rwanda must invest more in hospitality industry training through suitable tourism colleges . Sometimes I wonder, does Rwanda enforce external cleanliness where people can see but does little due to revenue constraints to the inside of it's people's lives ? I saw people walking bare feet , limited vehicular traffic in towns and too many people relying on actually walking to get to places. Am I wrong ? Please someone tell me am wrong. Village life in Rwanda is a total contrast of roadside scenery not withstanding Kigali is a very small city but with great potential. The country is generally very clean and feels serene but with an air of someone watching over you. Were my feelings misplaced ? Please someone tell me something, . But bottom line is that President Kagame has put to good use that nations tax revenue with a strict sense of accountability. Somehow the Rwanda government had to start somewhere. They have the correct mindset and for sure skillsets will follow and through skillsets people will fit into the cogs of the economy which creates personal wealth.

Just imagine, there are countries in eastern europe and asia and the middle east that have been at each other's throats for centuries within the country and still no signs of uniting. The number 1 problem here is you guys coming from AMERICA need to get you'll attitude in check, and stop expecting everything to be perfect, NO PLACE ON EARTH Is, Especially AMERICA. 2, COMMUNICATION. Not every country speaks English so that means learning to find someone in the area that may help you with the language barrier, Question to you two, do you speak Rhuwandian Language? I'll wait, don't worry. 3, If you remember what our brothers and Sisters went through recently, the human resources they've lost, and still today, they are an example of community and country building despite this massive setback and evil they went through. Sure things could be better, but stop expecting the same thing you see or may have in the U.S., and enjoy the Freedom you've never and never will experience in you'll beloved AMERICA lol. Your AMERICAN Media, government, and Big Business have and are still spreading their propaganda about AFRICA as so poor and all the other negative stuff I've heard and am still hearing to this day. Do you'll research, learn about the environment of where you are going to visit in the Motherland, try your best to find credible information and someone or an organization to liaise with, for starters and then improvised when you get there, and so doing, you guy will have the best experience of our beautiful continent that we have been taking from in which we've lost our or part of our history, meaning those of us Living in the Diaspora like me and you. If you can't bring out the positives, then stay in America, or find a better way to make it work, because Africa needs and depend on every one of us to lift her up to her rightful place. Like, love or hate me, doesn't matter, all this is still coming from a place, my heart and mind of Love to you and everyone else. 🙌❤❤❤

Thank you very much for your video and I am very happy to see a young family setting out to explore the world (especially the African continent). As a experienced ex-pat who has lived in 6 different countries (I am born and raised in Florida), in which Rwanda was my home for 2+ years, where I found a beautiful wife, own property, and have a business. Let me give a few observations about this video along with a little advice based on my years of extensive international travel. 1. Research is critical. I noted from your video that this is an area in which you can improve. Adequate research would have provided: 1. The currency exchange rate 2. Uber doesn't exist in Rwanda 3. Grocery stores could have been located using Google Maps I'm not sure where your Airbnb was, but I always have a back up hotel just in case the Airbnb was unsatisfactory. There are markets in which to buy fresh organic vegetables and fruits. This is why advanced research is critical and will make your stay easier and hopefully avoid the headaches. I'm happy that you are exposing yourself to the world and experiencing true Melaninated Freedom ✊🏾 Safe travels and I'm excited for you

Lol the main form of public transport in Rwanda is the motorcycle taxi. I spent five months in Rwanda and it took me about 1 week to get over the fact that Imma have to either rely on unreliable taxis or spend a lot for a driver. I dont have an infant like y'all so I just forced myself to being on the back of a motorcycle to get around. Now I just love moto taxis, I use them in every African country I visit...unless I can take a mini bus easily.
@FREEDOMCHASERSLIFE Жыл бұрын
Yes we used those in TZ before we had the baby.
@AfrikanLifestyle Жыл бұрын
Indeed the motos are the best way when you combine the ease of getting one, the time in getting to your destination and the cost. If you're a single guy you can't beat it.Sometimes I just have to take a taxi.. If your budget can handle it renting a car is awesome.

The problem you had was that you wanted to have USA experience in Rwanda. Do your research first about transport, language, culture, ... Most of problems were from false expectations: remember English is a third language to Rwandans? It's like coming to USA and expecting people to speak French because French were in some states...
@xena6894 Жыл бұрын
It actually admirable that some people would complain about this. The lack of self awareness and american centric view of the world is astounding sometime. But none goes to China , Russia, Italy , France to visit or study /work and complain about this

You are traveling to a country and don't know the exchange rate?
@livinglifeonfull Жыл бұрын
If something is an inconvenience or is not there or there is a need, then it is a good business opportunity. If you have the determination, problem solving skills, or resources then it is good way to thrive there. The Rwandan government is looking for problem solving entrepreneurs to help them grow their economy.

What you have in the USA is not what you get in Africa. When in Africa look for Africa. Baby is beautiful and you are a beautiful family, but don't expect to get the same kind of world in Africa that you have in America. Love & Peace

Oh wow! Why would anyone want the world to know how they’re making a living? That’s private…it’s not even okay to ask family members offline. That said, it’s not up to me to answer for the young couple.

The mistake most foreigners do is to expect to find the places they are visiting to be similar to where they are coming from .
@RugagaPaul Жыл бұрын
How the place was presented/marketed is key 😢
@ctbt1832 Жыл бұрын
That’s technically not true. Most foreigners do not expect something to be like the country. They came from such as the UK and Canada or the US. What they do expect is the simplicity of being able to do something especially if it’s tourism and stuff like that in the area.
