I saw Dom at a drum clinic in Omaha Nebraska...hearing him hit those cymbals in person will take your breath away. Not only is Dom a great drummer, but he's a great person. In the crowd that night was a 12 year old girl...and in talking to her, Dom found out that she desperately wanted to become a drummer, but her family could never afford the lessons. In fact her mother was outside in the car waiting because they couldn't afford the extra ticket. Dom, without blinking an eye, paid for her to have a years worth of lessons, and I believe even bought her a drum set. Great guy, great drummer. Dom said he got good at the bass drums by running through 'Stick Control for the Snare Drummer' by Lawrence Stone, but on the bass drums...can't even imagine.

In the late 90s, I went to my very first drum clinic. It was Dom. Dude blew me away - and not just with his drumming. He came on stage and first thing he did was cry out how magnificantly fabulous the drums are and wouldn't start playing until everybody first screamed out "HALELLULIA!!" a couple times. :-) I learned my single most important drum lesson from him on that day. And it didn't really have anything to do with actual drumming. The lesson was ENJOY the instrument. You will never get good at something that you don't enjoy. I can only say: thank you Dom. Thank you.

Easy triplets for him ; he easily can as fast as many metal drummers with double bass drums. These legends like Dom Famularo, Dave Weckl, Virgil Donati can play everything better than other drummers. Dom is although one of the best teacher ever. Dom is one of the better ambassador for drums in history. Long Life for Dom 😉

I love this. Dom and Sugarfoot Moffett must be kindred souls with their technique. If you’ve never seen one of his instructional videos, you’re missing out. I had one of his many double bass lessons on VHS in the ‘80s and he’s a remarkable teacher.

I'm sure you're aware that the thrash-style, super fast double bass work comes from him. He did it in the late 70s when he shifted to double bass playing as an exercise, having no idea it would ever be used in a song. Charlie from Anthrax learned that technique partially from Dom.
