You know what a GOAT is right? There can only be one lol
@spddiesel
@spddiesel Ай бұрын
@@rubenvanderkooij1571substitute the words into the acronym and his statement is "one of the greatest of all time." It's a valid statement, you're being myopic.

@@spddiesel Hahaha I do need reading glasses nowadays ;) Logically someone in a discipline is a GOAT or not, you can't have multiple GOATs in the same discipline. Logically impossible :) It was a mathematical joke :)
@spddiesel
@spddiesel Ай бұрын
@@rubenvanderkooij1571 however when dealing with a subjective topic, like musicians in their respective instrument/genre, I believe there can be no single GOAT. That's why people often say "one of the GOATS" in instances like this, because there's no real objective way to define greatness when it comes to art. People like what they like, ya know? Anyway, my two cents, plus Greg is one of my favorite drummers since the DLR days, so yeah, one of the GOAT's 😉🤘🍻

@@spddiesel I 100% get what you're saying :) And I agree :) My comment was tongue in cheeck, a logical/philosophical joke :) And yeah, Gregg is one of my faves too! :)

I will never forget when I brought him to my country to give a clinic. As soon as we met we started talking about music and drums, he asked me what drummers I liked and if I liked Ringo, I told him that of course I'm a Beatles fan and he gave me a high five...the next day. He played like a beast and even sang Happy Birthday to my wife, showed me a Ringo birthday concert at Madison Square Garden on his iPhone while practicing rudiments on a pad... he's one of the nicest people I've ever met. , humble and with a great sense of humor. Thank you Gregg for visiting us in Panama 2011.

I was fortunate to have seen that 1986 drum solo during the Eat 'Em and Smile tour. I was/am a guitarist that now dabbles in drums and I went to that show looking forward to seeing the greats Vai and Sheehan with Roth as I was a huge DLR era VH fan. I literally spent the whole show watching Gregg instead. His energy was infectious. I hadn't heard of him prior to that, but couldn't say enough about how great he was from that day on!
